Gluten Free Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

These gluten free cinnamon rolls are so delicious you'd think they came fresh from a bakery! They have an ultra soft, fluffy texture and cinnamon sugar flavor that's tough to beat. And topping them off with a tasty sweet glaze makes this gluten free cinnamon rolls recipe one to remember.

Ingredients

Cinnamon rolls:

Just Under 4 1/3 Cup (600g) Gluten Free All-Purpose Flour

1 Tbsp. White Sugar

4g Dry Yeast

1 Egg Yolk

1 Tsp. Sea Salt

Just Over 1 Cup (270ml) Warm Water

Filling:

Just Over 6 Tbsp. (90g) Butter, Room Temperature

1/2 Cup (60g) White Sugar

3 Tbsp. (40g) Brown Sugar

3-4 Tsp. Cinnamon

Glaze:

1/2 Cup (120g) Crème Fraîche or Thickened Cream

1/4 Cup (20g) Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  1. Add room temperature gluten free flour, sugar, and dry yeast to a large bowl and mix to combine.
  2. Dissolve the salt in warm water, add half the amount of water to the dry ingredients, and add the egg yolk and mix.
  3. Knead the dough in a food processor (mixer) or by hand (8-9 minutes). Put the kneaded dough back in the bowl and lightly add the rest of the water until you get the dough separates from the bowl.
  4. Cover the bowl with a kitchen cloth and leave it to rest in a warm place for at least 45 minutes or longer.
  5. When the dough has doubled in volume, transfer it to a floured work surface and roll it out into a thin rectangle approximately 1cm thick. 
  6. Mix sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Coat the dough with butter, then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar.
  7. Starting with the long end, roll the dough into a strudel shape.
  8. Cut the rolled dough into 8 cinnamon rolls and arrange in a pan greased with butter. Leave it to rest for 10-15 minutes and preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  9. Bake the rolls until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
  10. Mix the Crème Fraîche and powdered sugar in a bowl to make the glaze. Coat the hot cinnamon rolls with the glaze.
  11. Leave to cool a bit, and if you want, coat the rolls with the glaze again before serving.
