The BEST Classic Southern Deviled Eggs Recipe Made In Under 30 Minutes

These southern deviled eggs take your typical hard boiled eggs to another level. They're perfectly creamy, filled with southern flavors, and are actually really easy to make. Serve these southern style deviled eggs as an appetizer, breakfast addition, or even side with dinner side - everyone who tries 'em is sure to love 'em!



6 large eggs, cold

4 cups cold water

3 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tbsp dijon mustard

2 tbsp sweet relish

1 tbsp sour cream

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Smoked paprika, for garnish


  1. Place eggs in the bottom of a large pot and cover with cold water.
  2. Bring the water to a boil over high heat for 3 minutes and then turn off the heat, cover the pot and let the eggs sit for 15 minutes
  3. Drain the pot and transfer the eggs to a bowl of cold water until cool enough to handle. Then peel each egg.
  4. Cut each egg in half and separate the whites from the yolks. 
  5. Plate egg white halves on a serving plate.
  6. Mash the yolks with a fork and stir in mayonnaise, pickle relish, mustard, and sour cream and mix well. Season the mixture to taste with extra salt and pepper as needed.
  7. Transfer the yolk mixture into a piping bag fitted with a large open star tip (you can also use just use a spoon). Fill egg whites evenly with the yolk mixture. Garnish with paprika.
