Tacos De Bistec

Steak, red onion, and cilantro in a flour tortilla. Behind it are a few more steak tacos.

These tacos de bistec are my favorite authentic steak tacos. The juicy, tender steak is packed with all of the delicious Mexican flavors you'd expect. Piled it tortillas with some toppings, it doesn't get better than this! 

Ingredients

1 lb. Bistec or Flank Steak

1 tbsp. chili powder

1 tbsp. onion powder

1/2 tbsp. paprika

salt and pepper

2 tbsp. olive oil

8 taco tortillas and lemon, cilantro, lettuce. lime, red onion for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix all the spices in a bowl. Top the Flank steak with the spice mixture until covered.
  2. Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high and add the olive oil. Add the steak and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned on both sides. Lower the heat, cover it, and let it cook for 15 more minutes (alternatively, you can transfer it to the oven and cook at 450°F until your desired doneness).
  3. Slice the steak into thin strips. 
  4. Serve the tortillas with lemon, cilantro, lettuce, lime and red onion.
