The Best Bulletproof Coffee
If you love starting your day with a hot cup of coffee - as I do - then this recipe is for you!
Bulletproof coffee is very easy to make. Basically it's freshly brewed black coffee mixed with butter and MCT (medium chain triglycerides) oil.
However, for my bullet coffee recipe, I like to use ghee - instead of butter - because it has a wonderfully nutty taste to it. Also, ghee is creamier than butter, which I like more too.
Anyways, what I love about starting my day with butter coffee as opposed to just a normal coffee, is the fact that it keeps me full for hours after I drink it. As a result, I eat less food during the day, and I'm able to lose more weight because of it.
Also, I'm just more productive when I have a cup - or two - of Bullet coffee. Mostly because when I drink it I'm less food-focused, and I get more done because of it!
For me, I noticed I was thinking about food, making food, and eating food for a lot of the day. And, as a result, I was "wasting" a lot of time.
So, since I started to drinkbulletproof coffee in the mornings, it has been a game-changer for my productivity. I'm able to reallocate all that "wasted" time toward my goals now.
As a result, I've never been more productive. And who doesn't love getting stuff done! Am I right?!
Ingredients
So, this keto coffee recipe is made with really simple ingredients. And if you typically drink coffee and follow a keto diet, odds are you'll have everything you need to make it at home already!
With that said, here are the bulletproof coffee ingredients:
- 4 Ounces Freshly Brewed Coffee
- ½ teaspoon Ghee or Grass-Fed Butter
- ½ teaspoon MCT Oil
- *Note you can add more of both of these to meet your tastes and dietary preferences!
And for some optional add-ins:
- Splash of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- ½ tablespoon Confectioners Swerve
- Sugar free syrup
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
Pretty simple, right?

Ingredients to Use
Ok, as I mentioned earlier bulletproof coffee is also called butter coffee.
But what I didn't mention was the best kind of butter to use in your coffee.
That said if you're using butter instead of ghee in your coffee you'll want to use grass-fed butter.
The reason you want to use grass-fed butter is that it has a better ratio of Omega 3's, and it's also a more nutrient-dense butter than grain-fed. Which, in turn, can help reduce inflammation.
So, if you're trying to make the healthiest cup of butter coffee possible, choose grass-fed butter!
How To Make Bulletproof Coffee
So, the video above will not only show you how to make bulletproof coffee but 3 other keto coffee recipes as well! And they're all incredibly easy to make.
That said, this bullet coffee recipe below is the easiest, though.
So, here are the steps you'll want to follow to make it...
- Brew Coffee
- Add-in ghee/butter and MCT Oil - a ½ teaspoon of each is what I like to use
- Use a spoon - or frother - to mix into the coffee
Now, that's how to make a basic black Bulletproof cup of coffee. But you can tailor the butter coffee from there to meet your preferences.
For instance, I like to add a splash of unsweetened almond milk and some Confectioners Swerve to my bulletproof coffee. I think adding those things just gives the coffee the perfect amount of creaminess and sweetness...without adding any carbs, of course.

Benefits of Bulletproof Coffee
So, I've already talked about some of the benefits of drinking bulletproof keto coffee, but there are many more!
Here are more health benefits of making coffee with butter...
- It provides & increases energy.
- It's steadier long-lasting energy - thanks to the healthy fat!
- Satiety, and fewer food cravings overall.
- Improved cognitive function and mental clarity.
- Increased hormonal health.
- It's anti-inflammatory.
- Easier digestion.
One of the main drivers of all of these health benefits is the MCT Oil used to make bulletproof coffee.
MCT Oil is one of the most - if not the most - easily digestible fats you can consume.
In fact, it's so easy to digest that the body almost uses it immediately for energy.
So combining MCT Oil with coffee is like high octane fuel for your brain. Not only are you getting a boost of energy from the caffeine in the coffee, but you're also getting it from the MCT Oil as well.
Plus, the fats found in MCT Oil help curb your appetite too.
That said if you don't have MCT Oil on hand, you can always use coconut oil in its place.

Why is bulletproof coffee the best coffee for keto?
Bulletproof coffee is the best keto coffee for the keto diet because of all the healthy fats added to it.
Obviously, keto is a high fat low carb diet and bullet coffee conforms perfectly to the diet.
The coffee is high in fat - GOOD FATS - and it has zero sugar/carbs.
It's also an easy way for keto dieters to sneak added fats into there macros.
One of the biggest challenges of doing the keto diet is eating enough fat, and bulletproof coffee can help you do that.
So with that said, I hope you enjoy this keto coffee recipe as much as I do! If you make it, be sure to leave a comment below. And for more recipes, make sure to check out my Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
