How To Make Crock Pot Cube Steak
Like I said before, it's so easy to make your slow cooker cube steak, so you won't have to slave away in your kitchen all day long.
Once your steak is ready, there are only two simple steps left—just prepare your pasta and put the finishing touches on the sauce, and you're good to go!
STEP 1: PREPARE THE SAUCE
In a large crock pot, add the mushroom soup, beef broth, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Then, you can gently whisk everything together until well combined and you have a smooth mixture. This will be the delicious gravy sauce that makes the meat so tender and adds a ton of flavor.
STEP 2: SLOW COOK THE CUBE STEAKS
Now you can add the cube steaks to the soup mixture, making sure they are fully submerged before covering the crock pot.
I then like to cook the steaks on low heat for 6-8 hours, but you can also cook them on high heat for 4-6 hours. Whichever is more convenient for you!
STEP 3: MAKE THE PASTA
In the final ten minutes of cooking, you'll want to start making your egg noodles according to package directions.
I suggest undercooking them slightly so the noodles are al dente. This way, they'll soak up that delicious gravy sauce more.
STEP 4: THICKEN THE SAUCE
In a small bowl, whisk together the water and cornstarch to make a slurry. Then add the slurry to the gravy and stir everything together until the sauce is nice and thick.
Once the sauce has thickened, turn off your crockpot and divide the egg noodles into two bowls. Top each bowl with steak and gravy, and finish with chopped fresh parsley before serving warm. Enjoy!
My Pro Tips For This Recipe
- If I'm not in the mood for pasta, I like to pair my cube steak with these keto cauliflower mashed potatoes or cauliflower risotto. It makes it a delicious low carb high protein meal!
- Experiment with making your own cubed steak by using a meat tenderizer on a round steak for optimal quality. This is a great option if you can't find cube steak at your local grocery store.
- Incorporate more vegetables into this meal by adding sliced mushrooms to your slow cooker. You can also add any other veggies that you want! Carrots, potatoes, kohlrabi, or any other veggies that you'd put in a stew would go great in this recipe.
How To Store and Reheat This Cubed Steak
Store In the Fridge
You can store leftover cube steak in the fridge using an airtight container. I like to store my meat and pasta separately to prevent the noodles from getting soggy, and then refrigerate for up to 3-4 days.
Store In the Freezer
Once your cube steaks have cooled, I recommend transferring them into a freezer safe bag like a Ziploc bag. I like to do my best to make sure all of the air is out of the bag prior to freezing to ensure optimal freshness. The steaks can then be kept in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Reheating
If you're looking to reheat frozen cube steak, you'll want to transfer your freezer bag to the refrigerator and allow the meat to thaw overnight. Once the steak has defrosted, I recommend reheating your cube steak on a skillet over low heat, stirring occasionally until the steak is heated evenly throughout.
