    Like I've already said, I'm 100 percent convinced that this is THE BEST Keto Chocolate Mug Cake Recipe.

    And I feel confident saying that because I've made a chocolate mug cake or two in my life. But, none of them have been quite this delicious. That's especially true when it comes to low carb keto mug cakes.

    So, why is this the best keto chocolate mug cake you ask?

    Well, I think it comes down to the warm ooey-gooey lava deliciousness that's on the inside of this cake. There's nothing quite like a rich decadent chocolate cake with a molten chocolate center, is there? And this mug cake recipe delivers on that chocolate lava deliciousness big time.

    That said, this mug cake doesn't need a bunch of sugar or carbs to deliver a ton of flavor. Actually, this chocolate lava mug cake recipe has just 3 NET CARBS and it's completely sugar free.

    Also, the main problem with most keto mug cakes is that they end up dry. And that's totally not the case with this recipe. So, how does it get any better than that?

    How To Make A Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake

    This keto chocolate lava mug cake recipe is actually incredibly easy to make. 

    Basically, all you have to do is add all of the ingredients to a pourable bowl - except the lava part - mix them up, pour them into an 8oz ramekin, and bake!

    Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake Recipe Ingredients

    So, one of the best parts about this chocolate keto mug cake is that you'll need all staple keto baking ingredients to make it!

    Check out what you'll need for the chocolate cake:

    • 1 Egg
    • ½ tablespoon Salted Butter
    • ¼ teaspoon PURE Vanilla Extract
    • ¼ Cup Almond Flour
    • 1 tablespoon Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
    • 2 Heaping Tbsps Swerve
    • ½ teaspoon Baking Powder

    And for the lava filling:

    • 2 Tbsps Sugar Free Chocolate Chips
    • ½ teaspoon Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

    How To Make This Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake In The Microwave

    There are 2 ways you can make this keto chocolate lava mug cake. You can cook it in the microwave, or in the oven.

    If you use a microwave, the mug cake will only take about one minute to cook. It is definitely the fastest and easiest way to make the cake.

    So, to make let's not waste any more time and make the best keto chocolate cake in lava mug cake form!

    Step 1: Making the Cake

    First,  add all of the ingredients - except the chocolate chips and almond milk - to a medium-sized bowl, and mix them with a rubber spatula until they combine.

    Next, coat an 8oz ramekin with baking spray, and add ⅔ of the batter to the ramekin.

    Now microwave the chocolate cake for around 20 seconds. Microwave times will vary, but 20 seconds was perfect for my 1100 Watt microwave.

    STEP 2: Making The Lava Filling

    While the cake is microwaving, add the sugar free chocolate chips and almond milk to a small bowl and mix them together.

    Make sure the mug cake is cooked enough so that it can hold all of the sugar free chocolate chips without them sinking into it. When it is, add all of those chocolate chips to the center of the mug cake.

    Now pour the remaining ⅓ of the batter over the chocolate chips, and cook for another 20 seconds.

    How To Make This Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake In The Oven

    I know not everyone likes to use a microwave or owns a microwave, and the good news is you can cook this mug cake in the oven too. However, instead of the mug cake taking a minute to cook, it will take about 12 minutes. 

    That said, you'll want to do just a couple of things different to make it in the oven. First, pre-heat the oven to 350 Degrees F.

    Then add all of the ingredients - except the sugar free chocolate chips and almond milk - to a medium-sized bowl, and combine them with a spatula.

    Now coat an 8oz ramekin with baking spray, and add ALL OF THE BATTER to the ramekin. Cook it for 5-ish minutes

    While the cake is baking add the chocolate chips and almond milk to a small bowl and mix. After about 5 minutes of cooking, add the chocolate chip/almond milk mix to the center of the mug cake. Press the chocolate chips into the center of the cake and cook for another 7-ish minutes.

    Then remove from the oven when just the middle of the cake is just ever so slightly "wet" looking

    Ingredients

    Cake Ingredients:

    1 Egg

    ½ tablespoon (7g) Salted Butter

    ¼ teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract

    ¼ Cup (28g) Blanched Almond Flour

    2 Heaping Tbsps (20g) Swerve

    1 tablespoon (5g) Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

    ½ teaspoon Baking Powder

    Chocolate Lava Ingredients:

    2 Tbsps (21g) Keto Chocolate Chips

    ½ Tsp Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

    Instructions

    Microwave Instructions:

    1. Add all of the ingredients - except lava ingredients - to a medium-sized bowl, and combine them with a spatula.
    2. Coat an 8oz ramekin with baking spray, and add ⅔ of the batter to the ramekin.

    6. Now pour the remaining ⅓ of the batter over the keto chocolate chips, and cook for another 20 seconds.
    7. You may need to add 5-10 seconds of cooktime if needed. When just the center of the cake looks "wet" the mug cake is done

    Oven Instructions:

    1. Pre-heat your oven to 350 Degrees F.
    2. Add all of the ingredients - except the chocolate chips and almond milk - to a medium-sized bowl, and combine them with a spatula.
    3. Coat an 8oz ramekin with baking spray, and add ALL OF THE BATTER to the ramekin.
    4. Cook for 5-ish minutes
    5. While the cake is baking add the Keto Chocolate Chips and Almond Milk to a small bowl and mix.
    6. After about 5 minutes of cooking, add the chocolate chip/almond milk mix to the center of the mug cake.
    7. Press the chocolate chips into the center of the cake.
    8. Cook for another 7-ish minutes.
    9. Remove from the oven when just the middle of the cake is just ever so slightly "wet" looking

    Notes

    The Macros DO NOT include the “carbs” from Swerve. Swerve has 0 calories, so it should be tracked as 0 carbs. The FDA makes food companies list “sugar alcohols” as carbs, but that doesn’t mean they should be tracked as such. That’s why it’s ALWAYS important to look at the calories of sweeteners and determine the true carb count FROM THE CALORIES!
