    The Best Gluten Free Meatballs

Meatballs with gravy is such a classic comfort food and one of the most nostalgic childhood dishes you can have. Atleast they are for me.

However, a lot of meatball recipes use breadcrumbs that aren't gluten free, and if you're trying to avoid gluten those recipes won't work for you.

So that's where this gluten free meatballs recipe comes in!

These meatballs have all the hearty, meaty goodness of your favorite meatballs but they're totally gluten free.

They also come with a simple - but incredibly delicious - gluten free gravy that you'll want to put on everything!

Also, this meatballs recipe is super easy to make - just 3 simple steps is all you need to follow to make 'em. In fact, they're so simple to whip up that you can easily get the kids involved, and make a fun family activity out of it.

By the way, I also have a great 0 carb keto gravy recipe - that's also glute free - you could try with these meatballs if you're looking for something a little lighter.

    Ingredients

The great thing about this gluten free meatballs recipe is that it uses simple ingredients and pantry staples.

The only ingredient you might not already have on hand is the gluten free panko breadcrumbs. And those shouldn't be too hard to find online, or in your nearest supermarket.

With all that said, here's what you'll need to make meatballs gluten free:

    • 1 lb (500g) ground beef
    • 1 medium onion, chopped and fried
    • 3-4 tablespoon Gluten Free Panko breadcrumbs
    • Just under ¼ cup (50ml) Milk
    • 1 egg
    • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
    • Pinch of cinnamon powder
    • 2 tablespoon fresh parsley
    • 1 tablespoon Mustard
    • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
    • Salt and pepper

A bowl of ground beef, a bowl with an egg in it, bowl with Panko breadcrumbs, a bowl of onion, a bowl of milk, a bowl of seasoning, a bowl salt and pepper, ball cilantro, and a bowl of mustard on a gray counter.

And for the gluten free gravy:

    • 4 tablespoon unsalted butter
    • 1 Cup Beef Broth or Chicken Broth
    • 2 tablespoon Corn Starch
    • 3 tablespoon Cream Cheese
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    • 1⁄2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

By the way, if you have these ingredients on hand, you have almost everything you need to make this gluten free meatloaf next.

Oh, and if you have to run to the store for any reason, you might as well pick up the ingredients you need to make these gluten free chocolate chip cookies for dessert! They're absolutely delicious.

A picture of broth, a bowl of cream cheese, a bowl of cornstarch, a bowl of mustard, bowl of soy sauce, a bowl of butter, and a bowl of seasonings all on a Gray counter.

    How to Make Gluten-Free Meatballs

Like I mentioned before, this gluten free meatballs with gravy recipe is insanely easy.

The meatballs are just a simple mix-shape-and-fry situation, while all you have to do for the gravy is combine and melt everything together.

Plus, everything is done in one skillet, so you won't have to do much cleaning up.

This is truly the perfect midweek meal for any busy parent and anyone on the go.

So, grab your ingredients, and let's make some gluten free meatballs!

14 uncooked meat balls on a piece of parchment paper in a baking dish.

Step 1: Shape and Cook the Meatballs

First, combine all the meatball ingredients in one big bowl and mix until everything is evenly incorporated.

Then, divide the meatball mixture up by eye to make approximately 14 meatballs.

Next, bring out a large non-stick skillet and heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high. When the oil is hot, place your meatballs into the pan and cook, turning them as needed - until they're golden brown on all sides.

If your pan is on the smaller side, I recommend doing this in batches so you don't overcrowd the pan. Doing that will help you create a nice caramelized exterior and an even-cook to the meatballs on the interior.

Anyway, once they're cooked transfer the meatballs to a plate, and cover to keep them warm.

    Step 2: Make the Gravy

    It's gravy time!

So, using the same skillet you used for the meatballs, melt the butter and quickly whisk in the cornstarch. Cook this for 30 seconds to get rid of the floury taste, whisking the whole time to prevent any lumps from forming.

Next, stir in the broth, cream cheese, dijon mustard, worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. And be sure to whisk the ingredients constantly.

Allow the sauce to come to a simmer, then cook until it thickens. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Cream cheese, broth, and a whisk in a pot on a wire rack.

    Step 3: Combine and Serve

Lastly, add the meatballs into the sauce and toss them to coat with the gravy.

Continue cooking the gravy and meatballs together until the meatballs are fully cooked and warmed through.

    Serve and enjoy!

Turn gluten-free meatballs in gravy on a white plate on a white circular serving dish on a gray counter. Behind it is a glass cup with the gravy in it.

    Storing and Reheating Meatballs

Ok, so if you happen to have any leftovers of these meatballs, store them in a container in the fridge along with the gravy. They'll stay good for about 3-4 days stored like this.

Then, to reheat them, I recommend warming the meatballs and gravy together in a frying pan pot over low heat until warm throughout.

By the way, a great way to use up your leftover meatballs is to make meatball subs. They're a super quick and easy dinner or work lunch. Just pop a few meatballs onto a halved gluten-free baguette and top with extra gravy and cheese. Enjoy!

    Wrapping It Up

And there you have it, that is how to make gluten free meatballs with gravy that everyone can enjoy!

These gravy meatballs are a match made in heaven and work fantastically on their own.

Oh, and try saving some of the gravy for these cauliflower mashed potatoes, and making a few extra meatballs to pair with this gluten free pasta.

Also, if you're looking for a delicious gluten free dessert recipe to make after having these meatballs for dinner, give these gluten free cinnamon rolls or this meringue cookie recipe a shot!

Anyway, I hope you find these gluten free meatballs as tasty as I do. If you make them, don't forget to leave a comment below with your thoughts! And make sure to check out my YouTube channel for more recipes.

    Ingredients

    Scale

    1 lb (500g) ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped and fried

3-4 tablespoon Gluten Free Panko breadcrumbs

Just under ¼ cup (50ml) Milk

    1 egg

    2 Tsp garlic powder

    1 Tsp cumin powder

    1 Tsp paprika powder

    Pinch of cinnamon powder

    2 Tbsp fresh parsley

    1 Tbsp Mustard

    2 Tbsp Olive Oil

    Salt and pepper

    Gravy:

    4 Tbsp unsalted butter

1 Cup Beef Broth or Chicken Broth

    2 Tbsp Corn Starch

    3 Tbsp Cream Cheese

    1 Tsp garlic powder

    2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

    ½ Tsp Dijon mustard

    Salt and pepper, to taste

    Instructions

    1. In a bowl mix together all the ingredients for the meatballs until combined. Form them into approximately 14 meatballs.
    2. Add 2 tablespoon oil to a large non stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, cook the meatballs (if itʼs not large enough, cook the meatballs in batches) until golden brown on all sides and remove from the skillet and cover to keep warm.
    3. In the same skillet, melt the butter. Quickly whisk in the corn starch and cook 30 seconds.
    4. Stir in the broth, cream cheese, Dijon, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook until it thickens.
    5. Add the meatballs back and toss in the gravy sauce. Cook until meatballs are heated through.
    6.  Heat olive oil in a pan and add the meatballs to the pan. Do not overcrowd the pan and if its not large enough, cook the meatballs in batches. Brown the meatballs on all sides and remove them on a plate.
    7. To start making the sauce, heat olive oil and butter in the same pan and add garlic and onions. Saute for 2-3 minutes and add the flour. Cook the flour for a minute or two to cook it so that it doesn't taste raw. Slowly add the chicken broth and keep whisking continuously till the sauce thickens.
    8. Add the cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, pepper and the meatballs. Simmer the meatballs for 10 minutes till they are cooked through.
    9. Mix in the heavy cream and turn off the flame. Serve hot.
