These keto tacos are made with seasoned ground beef, authentic taco toppings, and keto tortilla shells with just 1 NET CARB! And the best thing is that these tacos take only about 20 minutes - including making the keto taco shells from scratch! Seriously, keto ground beef recipes don't get any better than this.
THE BEST KETO TACOS
Whether it's taco Tuesday - or the weekend - anytime is a good time for low carb taco night, especially with this keto tacos recipe.
And this recipe combines mouth-watering seasoned ground beef with all the toppings you'd want in a taco. And, of course, we will be putting all this deliciousness on my keto tortillas.
By the way, you'll only need 6 ingredients to make my keto tortillas recipe, and you can whip it up while the ground beef is cooking!
Also, this recipe makes enough for the entire family, so you can have a dinner everyone will love on the table in about 20 minutes!
And that's why I think this is one of the best keto ground beef recipes you can make. I mean, you've got taco-flavored ground beef, fresh toppings, and tortillas all for under 2 NET CARBS each - you just can't beat it!
INGREDIENTS
Alright, so these keto ground beef tacos only require a few ingredients to make.
And they are all super simple and can easily be found anywhere if you don't already have them!
Here is what you'll need to make the ground beef:
- ⅓ onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 ½ tablespoon keto taco seasoning
And for creating each keto taco:
- 10 Low carb tortillas
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes, quartered
- ⅓ red onion, sliced
- cilantro
- 2 lettuce leaves chopped
- Lime
- Sour cream
Now, taco night wouldn't be complete without some tortilla chips, so I highly suggest making these 10-minute keto tortilla chips.
They use the exact same ingredients as the keto taco shells, making them super easy to make together!
And for dessert you can make some keto churros or keto flan. Talk about an authentic Mexican taco night!
HOW TO MAKE KETO TACOS
These tacos might be one of the easiest complete meals you can make for dinner.
Seriously, all you need to do is cook the ground beef and make the tortilla shells - it's as simple as that.
Then just top the tacos off with some fresh filling ingredients and you've got yourself one delicious meal.
By now, I know you're ready for some tacos, so let's get cooking!
STEP 1: COOKING THE GROUND BEEF
First, cover the surface of a pan with olive oil and heat it over medium-high heat.
Once heated, add your onions to the pan and sautee them for about 2-3 minutes until they have softened.
Then add your ground beef to the pan and cook until the meat has browned on all sides. After it has cooked, drain the excess fat from the pan and then add in your taco seasoning along with ½ cup of hot water.
To finish up, simmer for 10-15 minutes and occasionally stir the ground beef around to cover it in the taco seasoning.
While the ground beef is simmering, you can make the keto tortillas. And the ground beef is enough for 10 average-sized tacos, so just make sure to double the tortilla recipe.
STEP 2: COMPLETING YOUR KETO TACOS
So, by now, your ground beef and tortillas should be made and ready to go.
Now let's assemble your tacos! Layer each tortilla with some ground beef, then top with sliced tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and cilantro. And feel free to add on more keto friendly toppings - I'll go over some others in a minute.
Then finish them off with a squeeze of lime juice and a dollop of sour cream, and dig in!
And if you want to enjoy these with a cerveza, I put together a list of the best keto beers to make that easy for ya, so check that out.
MORE KETO TACO TOPPINGS
The best part about tacos is jazzing them up with a bunch of different toppings!
Along with the toppings in this recipe, here are some more low carb toppings to add to your tacos:
- Keto Coleslaw
- Keto Cheese Sauce
- Avocado
- Guacamole
- Shredded Cheese
- Bell Peppers
- Jalapeno Peppers
- Scallions
- Hot Sauce
STORING YOUR LEFTOVER KETO TACOS
This is one of my favorite recipes to make at the beginning of the week and then eat leftover for the next few days. But if you make them for your family, you probably won't have any leftovers, so plan accordingly.
You can store your cooked ground beef in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
And what's amazing is the homemade tortillas will also last in the fridge in an airtight container for over a week. It's like ground beef and these low carb tortillas were meant to be eaten together!
Seriously though, these tacos are such a tasty meal and are excellent to meal prep when you have a busy week ahead.
