    The BEST Keto Tuna Salad

This is definitely one of the best - if not, the best - tuna keto recipes you’ll ever make.

My favorite thing about this low carb tuna salad recipe is how creamy, refreshing, and flavorful it is!

A close second though is how easy it is to make.

This keto tuna salad takes just 10 minutes to whip up, so it's definitely one of the quickest lunch/dinner ideas you can make for the keto diet.

And, as you guys know, I love quick and easy!

A bowl of low carb tuna salad surrounded by a lemon and celery.

What To Pair this Low Carb Tuna Salad Recipe With

Anyways, this tuna salad is fantastic on its own, but you can take it even further by making a low carb tuna fish sandwich with keto bread!

I have a ton of recipes for keto bread like this white bread loaf and 5 minute low carb yeast bread.

But if you really wanna get this in your belly ASAP, try it with my 2 minute keto bread recipe.

Another awesome way to have this low carb tuna salad is to pair it with my keto crackers. The combination of the creamy and refreshing tuna salad with the crunch of the keto crackers is out of this world!

Tuna salad in a bowl with celery next to it.

Or, you can scoop some of this flavorful tuna salad onto a large leaf of lettuce. It’s low carb and the crunch of the fresh lettuce leaf really goes wonderfully with the creaminess of this keto tuna recipe.

Also, if you love this recipe, you absolutely need to try my keto salmon sandwiches, keto sushi, this turkey salad, or this pan seared halibut recipe next. They’re all super-lite and refreshing low carb lunch recipes just like this tuna salad is.

Oh, by the way, just so you know, this recipe makes 5 cups of low carb tuna salad, with under 2 grams NET CARBS per serving.

    How awesome is that?!

As I said, it's THE BEST!

How to Make the Best Keto Tuna Salad

The secret behind the amazing flavor of this low carb tuna salad is in the ingredients! Choosing the right ones will take this tuna salad from ordinary to extraordinary.

And I'm guessing you want to make some extraordinary keto tuna salad!

So, for best results use the ingredients I list below.

A large bowl of keto tuna salad with vegetables, a lemon, and two forks next to it.

    Ingredients & Process

First, I use a combination of Albacore tuna in water and Albacore tuna in olive oil.

Using two kinds of tuna gives some variety to the texture and flavor of this keto recipe.

The tuna in water gives a full hearty flavor to this dish, while the tuna in oil has a totally tender and juicy texture that takes this keto salad to the next level.

Tuna salad in a small bowl.

Next, I use this mayo. It’s made with avocado oil and is sugar-free.

The mayo adds a refreshing and creamy factor to this low carb tuna salad that you just can’t beat!

And you can definitely use your favorite keto mayonnaise for this recipe -whatever that might be - but I highly recommend using ½ cup or 120 grams of it. That's what I've found to be the absolute perfect amount to create the best balance of creaminess.

The diced celery and red onion also add a refreshing crispness and crunch to this low carb tuna salad. So don’t skip out on these cause you might regret it!

Another thing you absolutely cannot skip out on is the lemon juice and fresh dill.

These ingredients are the secret to making the best tuna salad for the keto diet. They make the flavor of the tuna really shine and bring a vibrancy to this recipe that you’ll absolutely love!

Two bowls of low carb tuna salad with a lemon, celery, and a blue napkin next to them.

Last but definitely not least, a heaping tablespoon of this sugar-free Dijon mustard is both great for the keto diet and for adding an awesome depth of flavor to this recipe!

This makes such a huge difference to the overall dish and I highly recommend it.

For a little treat, cherry tomatoes are a great addition to this salad – they make this keto recipe even more perfect for a summer lunch.

But if you’re really watching your carbs, feel free to skip these. It will still taste absolutely amazing!

Then it’s just a matter of prepping the ingredients and mixing them all together.

As I mentioned earlier, I love making this low carb tuna recipe because it’s so simple, easy, and quick! And, again, since it takes just 10 minutes, it’s perfect if you’re in a rush or feeling a little lazy.

2 Bowls of tuna salad with and onion, lemon, celery, and forks next to them.

    Tuna Salad for Pescatarians

This low carb tuna salad recipe isn’t just great for keto, it’s also ideal for the lacto-ovo-pescetarian diet. It’s full of healthy fats, nutritious ingredients, and no red meat!

But for those on the pescatarian diet who don’t eat eggs, feel free to substitute the mayo in this tuna salad recipe for your favorite vegan mayonnaise.

Just make sure to keep track of those carbs and sugars if you want to keep this recipe as ketogenic as possible!

    Ingredients

    2 (6oz - 170g) Albacore Tuna in water - strained

    2 (4.5oz - 128g) Albacore Tuna in olive oil - strained

    ½ Cup (120g) Sugar-free Mayonnaise

3 Ribs of Celery (120g) sliced

    ¼ Red Onion (50g) diced

    Juice from ½ lemon (25g)

    1 Heaping Tbsp. (20g) Sugar-free Dijon Mustard

2 Tsps. Fresh Dill - chopped

    Salt & Pepper to Taste

*Optional: 5 Cherry Tomatoes (50g) diced

    Instructions

Make sure your tuna in water and tuna in olive oil are strained. Place those together in a medium-sized bowl and set aside.

Prepare your diced red onion and celery. Make sure to cut off the ends of the celery and slice them into the little u-shaped pieces we see on so many great tuna salad recipes.

If you’re using cherry tomatoes, slice them into quarters.

Also, make sure to remove the stems of the dill before chopping them up.

Then, add everything to a large bowl and season with salt and pepper. Mix everything together and you’re done!

I think you may mean "drained" instead of "strained" tuna!

Guess it depends on your method. I strained mine as to get ride of as much excess moisture as possible.

Absolutely loved this recipe and will be making it again very soon! One thing I noticed, following the recipe to the gram, (added the cherry tomatoes as well) was that there was no way you are getting 5 cups out of a finished recipe; or at least I certainly didn’t. It came out to 3, 4 if you were very (and I mean very) loosely measuring it out. So to those of you counting macros heads up, the provided nutritional information may not be accurate!

This recipe was a nice change of pace from the usual tuna salad in our house! I also added some paprika, which I think brought out even more of the flavors. Thanks for sharing!
