Best High Protein Trader Joe's Finds

One of my absolute favorite places to shop is Trader Joe's. Their prices are hard to beat, and the quality of their food is top tier. What I also love about the grocery chain is that they've got a lot of ready-to-go high protein options that are super affordable. And in today's economy, that's hard to find.

So, since I've been obsessed with shopping at TJ's lately, I figured I'd put together a list of the best high protein products that I love getting from there. From breakfast to dinner - and plenty of snacks in between - there's something on this list for any occasion.

Plus, everything has over 10 grams of protein per serving!

    1. Chocolate Almond Protein Smoothie

An image of a Trader Joe's chocolate almond protein smoothie on a white background

    Nutritional Info, 1 bottle (473mL):

    • 310 Calories
    • 12g Fat
    • 25g Carbs
    • 18g Sugar
    • 5g Fiber
    • 23g Protein

This non-dairy protein smoothie is one of the most popular high protein drinks at Trader Joe's.

Each bottle provides 23 grams of plant-based protein from oats, pea protein, and almond paste, complemented by the rich taste of natural cocoa.

It's also worth noting that this has one of the highest amounts of sugar included in this list. So, if you get it, you'll want to balance it out with some of the low-sugar finds I'm listing below.

    2. Just Chicken

An image of a Trader Joe's just chicken on a white background.

    Nutritional Info, 3 oz (84g):

    • 120 Calories
    • 4g Fat
    • 0g Carbs
    • 0g Sugar
    • 0g Fiber
    • 22g Protein

Simple but packed with high quality protein, the Just Chicken from the prepared foods section consists of chicken breast strips seasoned with salt and pepper and cooked in olive oil. It's a personal favorite of mine. Honestly, it's probably a top 3 item I get from Trader Joe's, and I almost never leave without snagging a package - or 5.

Since it already comes fully cooked, it's perfect for snacking or adding to meals. Toss it in a salad, throw it into a wrap, or serve over your favorite high protein grains. It's great all on its own though, and both my 3-year-old and 1-year-old LOVE it.

    3. Egg Bites

An image of a Trader Joe's egg bites on a white background

    Nutritional Info, 1 sandwich (111g):

    • 90 Calories
    • 12g Fat
    • 3g Carbs
    • <1g Sugar
    • 0g Fiber
    • 16g Protein

These egg bites are fantastic for a speedy breakfast, a grab-and-go lunch, or a quick snack.

They come in two flavors: "cheddar cheese & uncured bacon" and "cheese, spinach, & kale."

Each package includes two egg bites packed with protein from eggs and cottage cheese. The cheddar variety is higher in protein at 16 grams per package, while the spinach & kale bites aren't too far behind with 12 grams and a fraction of the calorie count.

    4. Eggwich Breadless Breakfast Sandwich

An image of a Trader Joe's eggwich breadless breakfast sandwich on a white background

    Nutritional Info, 1 package (119g):

    • 240 Calories
    • 16g Fat
    • 6g Carbs
    • 1g Sugar
    • 0g Fiber
    • 16g Protein

Be sure to grab this protein-dense breakfast the next time you pass by the freezer section.

It's a gluten-free take on the classic breakfast sandwich, made with turkey breakfast sausage and melty American cheese, all sandwiched between two firm scrambled egg patties.

You only need a few minutes to heat this up in the microwave, so it's super convenient and provides a filling 16 grams of protein per sandwich.

    5. Greek Nonfat Yogurt

An image of a Trader Joe's greek nonfat yogurt on a white background.

    Nutritional Info, 1 container (150g):

    • 90 Calories
    • 0g Fat
    • 6g Carbs
    • 4g Sugar
    • 0g Fiber
    • 15g Protein

Trader Joe's offers a few different kinds of Greek yogurt, including whole milk, honey sweetened, and more.

But, if you want the most protein intake per serving, I definitely recommend their plain Greek nonfat yogurt. You can get it in snack-sized cups or larger tubs. I usually go with the larger tubs because we go through so much of it at my house.

We usually make some healthy parfaits with the yogurt by adding some fruit and granola to it, but it's also really tasty in just about any kind of smoothie you can think of.

    6. Icelandic Style Skyr

An image of a Trader Joe's icelandic style skyr.

    Nutritional Info, 1 container (150g):

    • 130 Calories
    • 2g Fat
    • 12g Carbs
    • 8g Sugar
    • 0g Fiber
    • 15g Protein

Skyr is a type of strained yogurt from Iceland that is famous for its deliciously thick and smooth texture.

Trader Joe's Skyr comes in snack-sized cups and offers three delicious flavors - vanilla, raspberry, and cherry - that you'll want to stock in your fridge for a nourishing sweet treat.

    7. Sriracha Flavored Baked Tofu

An image of a package of Trader Joe's sirracha flavored baked tofu on a white background.

    Nutritional Info, 3.5 oz (99g):

    • 140 Calories
    • 7g Fat
    • 6g Carbs
    • 2g Sugar
    • 1g Fiber
    • 15g Protein

Add some spice to your day with this fiery ready-to-eat tofu.

The protein-rich firm tofu absorbs all of the sriracha marinade and is an absolute flavor bomb of sweet, savory, and perfectly spicy.

Dice it up and top on your favorite salad, add it to your next stir-fry or serve your tofu over piping hot rice. It's really tasty any of those ways.

    8. Organic Vegetarian Chili

An image of a can of Trader Joe's organic vegetarian chili.

    Nutritional Info, 1 container (425g):

    • 240 Calories
    • 8g Fat
    • 28g Carbs
    • 3g Sugar
    • 10g Fiber
    • 15g Protein

This canned meatless chili tastes just as delicious as your favorite homemade recipe

It's great to make a warming last-minute meal, a delicious dip for tortillas, or even as a hearty pasta sauce.

It has a meaty texture and high protein content from textured sunflower seed protein and red beans, so it's ideal if you're avoiding soy.

    9. Banana & Almond Butter Protein Smoothie

An image of a Trader Joe's banana almond butter protein smoothie on a white background

Nutritional Info, 16 fl oz. (473mL):

    • 320 Calories
    • 12g Fat
    • 36g Carbs
    • 30g Sugar
    • 2g Fiber
    • 15g Protein

This high powered banana and nut butter smoothie gets bonus points for not having any added sugar, unlike some other TJ's protein smoothies.

It's a great source of plant-based protein from almond butter and pea protein powder and is also rich in hydrating electrolytes from coconut water.

    10. Vanilla Almond Spiced Chai Protein Smoothie

An image of a Trader Joe's vanilla almond spiced chai drink.

    Nutritional Info, 1 bottle (473mL):

    • 320 Calories
    • 21g Fat
    • 19g Carbs
    • 12g Sugar
    • 5g Fiber
    • 14g Protein

Another plant-powered option to grab from the beverage section is this energizing smoothie. It tastes like a chai latte but is boosted with nutritious pea protein powder, almond paste, and coconut cream.

One thing worth noting is that while it has the same protein content as the banana almond smoothie, it has a lot more sugar, so it's best to consider this smoothie as an occasional sweet treat instead of an everyday drink.

    11. Kettle Cooked Chicken Soup

An image of a Trader Joe's kettle cooked chicken soup on a white background.

    Nutritional Info, 1 cup (245g):

    • 100 Calories
    • 2.5g Fat
    • 6g Carbs
    • 2g Sugar
    • 2g Fiber
    • 13g Protein

When you need something hearty that can warm you up from the inside out, this chicken soup is a must-have. I know this is a must-grab for me in the wintertime, especially when I'm sick.

It's got plenty of protein from high-quality chicken stock and chicken meat and made extra wholesome with bites of carrots, onions, and celery. What I really love about this chicken soup though is how low in carbs it is. I mean, at just 6 grams of carbs per serving, you'll be hard-pressed to find one that's as low as this one.

    12. Oven Baked Cheese Bites

An image of a bag of Trader Joe's oven baked cheese bites on a white background

    Nutritional Info, 1 oz. (28g):

    • 160 Calories
    • 12g Fat
    • <1g Carbs
    • 0g Sugar
    • 0g Fiber
    • 13g Protein

These mini puffed cheese bites are a fantastic high protein snack you can stash in your desk drawer.

They perfectly satisfy any crunchy, salty, or cheesy cravings and have 13 grams of protein to keep you full and energized. Also, for what it's worth, they make a tasty crouton replacement in salads.

    13. Super Seedy Cheese Snack Bites

An image of a bag of Trader Joe's super seedy cheese snack bites on a white background

    Nutritional Info, 7 pieces (30g):

    • 170 Calories
    • 11g Fat
    • 5g Carbs
    • 0g Sugar
    • <1g Fiber
    • 12g Protein

Continuing with the trend of puffed cheesy snacks, these super seedy bites are a great savory option to stock in the pantry.

They have triple the crunch factor from the crispy parmesan cheese base, protein-rich seeds, and puffed quinoa. And the black peppercorns add a touch of spice to the mix.

    14. Peanut Butter Overnight Oats

An image of a Trader Joe's overnight oats cups on a white background.

    Nutritional Info, 1 container (156g):

    • 270 Calories
    • 10g Fat
    • 34g Carbs
    • 13g Sugar
    • 6g Fiber
    • 12g Protein

Trader Joe's has these overnight oats cups in a few different flavors, each at about 8 grams of protein each.

But if you are aiming for more protein, check out the peanut butter flavor which has the most protein at 12 grams per serving.

Top these overnight oats with some fresh fruit and chocolate chips, or add even some additional protein by stirring in a scoop of Greek yogurt or protein powder.

    15. Peanut Butter Protein Granola

    Nutritional Info, 2 slices (56g):

    • 3.5g Fat
    • 0g Carbs
    • 0g Sugar
    • 0g Fiber
    • 11g Protein

Great for breakfast or snacks, this peanut butter and chocolate granola can add protein to your day while still satisfying your sweet tooth.

These crunchy clusters are made with rolled oats, peanut butter, peanuts, and pea protein crisps for a total of 11 grams of protein per serving.
