The Best Way To Cook Turkey Bacon

Cooking turkey bacon in the oven is the easiest, cleanest, and most delicious way to cook turkey bacon. It results in shatteringly crispy turkey bacon with a concentrated meaty, salty flavor that turns out amazing every time.

And, unlike stove-top bacon, there's no risk of uneven cooking, greasiness, or oil splatters here! Just effortless, perfectly cooked turkey bacon in only 15 minutes.

How good does that sound? Pretty great, right?!

Anyway, this oven baked turkey bacon recipe is the perfect addition to any breakfast or lunch. You can combine it with some eggs and cheese on one of these low calorie bagels for the ultimate breakfast sandwich, or you could even crumble it on top of this turkey salad for a healthy lunch.

Honestly, there are so many ways to enjoy this turkey bacon. I'll go over a few more later on, but for now, let's just get into what you'll need for this recipe!

A stack of baked turkey bacon on a white speckled plate. A tea towel and a pair of black tongs are in the background.

    Ingredients

As far as this recipe for turkey bacon goes, there's no extra oil or seasonings required here. You really don't need anything extra for a delicious result.

Here's everything you need for this turkey bacon recipe:

    • 8 Turkey Bacon Slices

Seriously, that's it! The natural fat in the turkey bacon slices is all you need for crispy, perfectly cooked turkey bacon.

Of course, you'll want to use your favorite good-quality turkey bacon for the best results. Butterball turkey bacon or Oscar Meyer turkey bacon are great picks. And the Oscar Meyer uncured turkey bacon is fantastic if you want to avoid nitrates.

By the way, you can use any leftover uncooked bacon to make this bacon wrapped asparagus. It's the perfect quick and easy side dish and it goes great with pretty much anything.

6 pieces of uncooked turkey bacon arranged neatly on a baking rack on top of a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. A pair of black rubber tongs sits on the edge of the baking sheet on top of a tea towel.

How to Cook Turkey Bacon in the Oven

As I mentioned a few times, making turkey bacon in the oven couldn't be easier. All you need is a couple of minutes of prep and 15 minutes of passive cooking time for this perfect bacon recipe.

Also, although this recipe calls for 8 slices, you can really make as much as you want! So feel free to double or triple the recipe if everyone will be enjoying this turkey bacon.

With all that said, let's get into the recipe!

Half-cooked turkey bacon slices on a baking rack in the oven. A baking sheet lined with parchment paper sits under the rack, catching any extra bacon fat.

Step 1: Preparing The Turkey Bacon

First things first preheat the oven to 400°F (200ºC).

Next, take out a baking sheet and lay a wire rack on top. Also, if you want to keep the baking sheet clean, you can line it with parchment paper.

Anyway, now you can lay the raw turkey bacon slices on top of the wire rack - just make sure none of them overlap. Having the slices lay flat on the wire rack is crucial for getting the crispest bacon. You're better off cooking it in batches if your wire rack isn't big enough.

6 pieces of baked turkey bacon slices on a baking rack. A pair of black tongs is flipping the rightmost piece of bacon.

Step 2: Baking The Turkey Bacon

Now it's time to cook the turkey bacon!

So, to bake it you'll want to cook the first side for about 10 minutes. Then, after the 10 minutes are up, you can take the turkey bacon out of the oven, give it a flip, and cook for another 5 minutes.

Finally, transfer your cooked turkey bacon slices to a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess oil.

By the way, you can save the bacon fat drippings on the baking sheet for future cooking. It's great for frying or roasting vegetables.

Anyway, now that the bacon has had a chance to release its excess oil you can serve your turkey bacon by itself, or with whatever you want. Enjoy!

What to Do With Turkey Bacon

This crispy turkey bacon is packed with flavor and a perfect accompaniment for everything from your breakfast eggs or veggie side dish.

Here are some of my favorite recipes and ideas for enjoying your turkey bacon:

    • Crumble cooked turkey bacon strips over this tender roasted broccolini
    • Use crumbled turkey bacon in this chicken bacon ranch casserole
    • Garnish these cheesy jalapeno poppers with crispy turkey bacon bits
    • Serve your turkey bacon for breakfast alongside this low carb breakfast casserole
    • Use the turkey bacon to make these low carb eggs benedict

How to Store Cooked Turkey Bacon

Leftovers of this crispy turkey bacon are great for adding to sandwiches, salads, and for use in one of the ways I just mentioned above. So, in other words, you can't make too much of this turkey bacon!

To store leftover turkey bacon, just transfer it to an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

However, if you want to store it for even longer, you can also freeze the turkey bacon for up to 3 months! First, pre-freeze the bacon strips in one layer on a baking sheet, evenly spaced. Then, once all the bacon is frozen, transfer them to a freezer-safe airtight container to store.

    How To Reheat Leftover Bacon

To reheat your turkey bacon, you can warm it up in a dry skillet over medium heat for 4-5 minutes.

For a more passive reheating method, arrange the bacon on a baking rack and bake in a preheated oven set to 350°F (180ºC) for 5-8 minutes or until crispy.

Lastly, my favorite way - which is also the quickest way - is to reheat the turkey bacon on a couple of sheets of paper towels in the microwave. Just pop it in the microwave in 10-second increments until warm.

Cooked turkey bacon slices standing upright in a small glass jar. Two more slices of bacon sit outside the jar on the marble countertop. Black tongs and a tea towel are in the back.

    Wrapping It Up

Well, that's how to cook turkey bacon in the oven!

Once you try this oven baked turkey bacon, you'll never want to go back to the stovetop method again. Baked turkey bacon comes out hot and crispy with minimal effort, virtually no mess, and zero active cooking time.

Seriously, there's no better way to cook turkey bacon!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this turkey bacon recipe as much as I do. If you make it, be sure to leave a comment below and let me know how it went!
