    THE BEST BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

A wise man once said, "If you want to make something delicious, wrap it in bacon." Ok, maybe I just made that up right now, but I think it's pretty darn true.

I mean, asparagus roasted in the oven is a tasty vegetable, right?!

Buuuut, asparagus wrapped in bacon baked in the oven is next-level good. The asparagus and bacon both get crisp up to perfection and combined to create a flavor like no other.

And all you need to make it is literally just the bacon and asparagus, plus a little salt and pepper.

Plus, this fancy-looking appetizer could not be easier to make and takes under 30 minutes from start to finish!

And if you want to make it even quicker, you can crisp up this bacon asparagus in the air fryer and save yourself some time - more on that in a bit.

Anyway, the next time you need an appetizer, side dish, or even snack, you have to try this recipe. It's seriously the perfect little bite to nibble on.

    INGREDIENTS

Ok, so I already mentioned the ingredients you'll need, but here is how much of each one we'll be using:

    • 10 oz asparagus
    • 12 bacon slices
    • Salt and pepper

Now, just so you know, you can use both turkey bacon and pork bacon to make this bacon-wrapped asparagus recipe. And if you use turkey bacon - and have some leftovers - I highly recommend making this oven-baked turkey bacon with it. It turns out perfect every time, and it goes great with just about anything you pair with it.

Also, if you do get extra bacon, you can use it to make more of my bacon based recipes - like these jalapeno poppers and this low carb quiche.

HOW TO MAKE BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

You honestly won't find a side dish easier to make than this bacon wrapped asparagus recipe. Basically, all you have to do is wrap bacon around asparagus and cook it - it's as simple as that.

And you have some flexibility with how you assemble your spears - so you can tailor this recipe for any occasion.

Anyway, if you're ready to elevate the flavor of some asparagus, let's get to it.

    STEP 1: ASSEMBLING

First things first preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (205°C).

Then wash the asparagus and trim the ends off.

Next, you can either wrap a bundle of 3-4 asparagus spears with a piece of bacon or wrap each spear of asparagus individually - it's totally up to you.

That said, if you are wrapping bundles of asparagus, use one slice of bacon per bundle. And if you are wrapping individual spears, cut the bacon lengthwise to make narrower strips.

Either way, wrap the asparagus spears with the bacon strip tightly and place them seam side down on a baking tray coated with baking spray.

    STEP 2: BAKING

Before putting the baking tray in the oven, sprinkle the bacon asparagus with a little salt and pepper.

Then put it in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. When the time is up, use tongs to turn the spears over, and bake for 10 more minutes or until the bacon is as crispy as you want.

Lastly, serve the baked bacon wrapped asparagus, sprinkle some parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, or garlic salt on top if you want some extra flavor, and enjoy!

MAKING AIR FRY BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

For a quicker cooking method, try making air fryer bacon wrapped asparagus.

Just preheat your air fryer to 400°F, wrap your asparagus, spray the air fryer basket with baking spray, and then place as many bundles as you can so they're lying flat on the basket surface.

Fry for about 5 minutes, then flip and fry for another 5 minutes or until the bacon is nice and crispy.

By the way, you may need to cook these in batches since you won't want to overcrowd the basket!

HOW TO STORE BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

So, this bacon wrapped asparagus recipe will make about 4 servings. And if you're serving this at a party or as a side for dinner, it's hard to believe you'll have any leftovers.

But if you do, you can store the leftover bacon asparagus in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

How to reheat bacon wrapped asparagus

Now, this bacon wrap asparagus is definitely best enjoyed hot out of the oven. So when you are ready to eat the leftovers, you'll want to heat them up.

One way to reheat it is to put the asparagus back in the oven at 400°F for a few minutes or until warm.

Another way is to add each asparagus spear covered in a bacon strip to a skillet over medium heat with a dash of oil and heat for about a minute or so on each side.

FAQS ABOUT THIS BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

    IS THIS RECIPE KETO FRIENDLY?

This bacon wrapped asparagus is totally keto friendly! Since asaparaus is one of the lowest carb vegetables, it's the perfect match to pair with some crispy bacon. And not only does it have just over 1 NET CARB total, but it is also high in fat. So this recipe makes for an ideal keto appetizer, snack, or side dish!

CAN I DIP IT IN ANYTHING?

Although this asparagus wrapped bacon is delicious on its own, you can absolutely serve it with a dipping sauce on the side. My personal favorite sauces to dip it in is this keto BBQ sauce and keto alfredo sauce. And if you want, you can also make a balsamic glaze to drizzle on top.

WHAT CAN I SERVE THIS WITH?

You can serve this delicious side dish with a variety of foods. The crispy bacon wrapped asparagus bundles really will complete anything you make for dinner. But I think that this recipe pairs best with a savory dish.

Here are a few low carb dishes you can serve it with:

    • Meatloaf
    • Chicken Marsala
    • Pot Roast Made In Instant Pot
    • Instant Pot Chicken Stew
    • Stuffed Peppers
    • Roasted Kohlrabi
    • Air Fryer Turkey Tenderloin
    • Oven roasted sausages

    WRAPPING IT ALL UP

That is how to make bacon wrapped asparagus!

This recipe has become my go-to for making when I have people over because everyone just loves it. I mean, who doesn't love bacon appetizers? Each tender asparagus stalk is wrapped in smoky bacon for one flavor experience like no other.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do.
