If you've been looking for how to cook brats in the oven perfectly every single time, then this recipe is for you! Oven roasting your bratwurst is the key to tender and juicy sausages with crispy skin. And, what's even better is that these brats are super easy to make in under 20 minutes!

Four roasted brats garnished with parsley on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. A pair of black tongs is on the corner of the pan.

The Best Oven Baked Brats Recipe

Cooking brats in the oven is the most effortless way to prepare these flavorful sausages. And it also produces some of the tastiest results.

Plus, as I said, it's super easy to make oven baked brats too. This recipe - if you can even call it that - is a simple two step process. It involves just putting the brats on a sheet pan and then baking them to golden juicy perfection.

    That's it.

Seriously, cooking brats has never been easier!

Not to mention, these oven baked brats literally turn out perfect every single time too. They're juicy and tender on the inside with crisp, perfectly roasted skins and a whole lot of flavor. Talk about mouthwatering!

And what's just as nice is that you can also cook frozen brats this way too. Yup, you don't even have to thaw them first. You can't get more effortless - or convenient - than that, can you?!

Anyway, I think you'll see why this is my favorite way to cook brats, and I'm positive you'll feel the same way once you try this recipe too.

By the way, the brats are really great by themselves or served on a roll, but my favorite way to eat them is with a veggie like these air fryer brussel sprouts or this sauteed eggplant. I'll go over some more ways you can enjoy these brats later on.

    Ingredients

This bratwurst recipe is really as simple as it gets. In fact, you only need one thing - brats - to make the recipe turn out as if it came from a restaurant!

Anyway, here's what you'll need to make these roasted brats:

    • 5 Bratwurst Sausages, raw
    • Parsley for garnish, optional

    That's it!

    Pretty great, right?

By the way, if you love how simple the ingredient list is to make these brats you'll want to check out this pan seared salmon recipe next! It's got an ingredient list that's almost just as short.

Four uncooked brats on a white plate. A pair of black tongs sits on a tea towel next to the plate. Next to it is a small bowl of mustard and a small bowl of parsley.

How to Cook Brats in the Oven

As I've mentioned, this recipe for oven baked brats takes under 20 minutes to make. And, what's even better is that it's really all passive cooking! Honestly, if you know how to turn on the oven, you can make this recipe. Yes, it's that easy.

Also, as I alluded to earlier, you can also use this same cooking method to make frozen bratwurst sausages in the oven in under an hour.

Anyway, let's not waste another minute, let's jump right into how to cook brats in the oven!

Three raw brats on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. A pair of black tongs is placing the third brat. A tea towel, a small bowl of mustard, and a small bowl of fresh parsley can be seen on the side.

Step 1: Prepare The Uncooked Brats

First things first, preheat your oven to 400°F (200ºC).

Then, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange your raw brats on it evenly. Also, you'll want to make sure they're in one layer - with plenty of space in between each one - when you get them on the sheet.

Step 2: Cooking  Brats In The Oven

Ok, so now that you've got the brats prepped on the sheet, you can slide the pan into the oven and cook 'em for 10 minutes. Then, after about 10 minutes, flip the brats and bake for another 5-7 minutes - or until the brats are browned to your liking.

Oh, by the way, if you want to cook frozen brats in the oven, you'll want to cook them for 20 minutes initially, then, flip 'em, and cook them for another 10-15 minutes.

With all of that said, to make sure your brats are cooked thoroughly, you'll want to stick a meat thermometer into them and make sure they reach an internal temp of atleast 160°F (72ºC). Then, once the brats reach that temp, you can serve them with your choice of sides and enjoy!

What to Serve with Cooked Brats

Brats are traditionally paired with German potato salad, sauerkraut, or bread rolls, but there's an endless possibility of side dish options to choose from!

Having said that, here are some of my favorite easy side dishes to pair with this baked bratwurst recipe:

    • Roasted broccolini
    • Green bean basserole
    • Coleslaw
    • Roasted kohlrabi
    • Roasted broccolini

Of course, you can also serve them on hot dog buns and top them with your favorite toppings! Peppers, onions, and kethcup are a few of my favorite things to top them with when I serve 'em this way.

By the way, for the best-tasting healthy condiments to pair with your baked brats, I have a list of fantastic low calorie sauces you should definitely check out!

    How to Store Cooked Brats

So, this recipe for baked brats makes 5 perfectly cooked brats.

But, of course, you can make as many as you want!

I actually recommend making more than 5 at a time since they make such good leftovers. Speaking of leftovers, if you have some, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Alternatively, if you want to store your brats for even longer you can freeze them. Just store them in a freezer-safe bag with the excess air squeezed out, and they'll stay good in the freezer for up to 3 months.
