Keto Cheese Bread With ZERO Carbs

Jan 11, 2021 The Diet Chef

    Jump to Recipe

This keto cheese bread recipe is one of the best keto side dishes you can make. It's basically a flatbread just in cheese form; it's incredibly cheesy, satisfyingly chewy, & delightfully delicious! And that's not even the best part about this keto bread. The best part about this keto cheese bread is that you only need three ingredients to make it, and every slice of it has practically zero carbs!

Pieces of cheese bread stacked on top of each other on a blue napkin. The top piece of cheese bread has marinara sauce on the end of it, and there is a cup of marinara sauce next to it.

    The BEST Keto Cheese Bread

Now, I know there are a lot of keto cheese bread recipes out there, but none of them compare to this one.

    This cheese bread:

    • Is quick and easy to make
    • Requires just 3 basic keto friendly ingredients
    • And, as I mentioned, it has practically 0 carbs per slice

Not to mention, this low carb bread recipe is incredibly versatile. You can make keto breadsticks out of this base recipe or even a keto pizza crust with it.

And, I don't know about you, but that's like everything I want out of a keto friendly bread recipe.

Speaking of keto bread recipes, some other great quick and easy ones are this 2-minute keto white bread, this 5-minute keto yeast bread, and this keto zucchini bread! They're undoubtedly some of the most popular recipes on the blog!

Anyway, let's talk about the ingredients you'll need to make this cheese bread keto friendly.

Slices of cheese bread stacked on top of a blue napkin with a cup of marinara sauce next to them.

    Ingredients You'll Need

It's hard to believe this keto cheese bread requires only a few common low carb ingredients to make.

And there's actually a good chance you have most of these ingredients in your pantry and fridge right now.

    All you'll need is:

    • 2 Eggs
    • 2 Cups of freshly shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 ½ Cup of freshly grated parmesan cheese
    • & Some optional seasonings

    That's it!

Strips of cheese bread piled on top of one another on a blue napkin. A small white cup of filled with marinara sauce is next to the pieces.

    Grate Your Own Cheese

As always, I recommend shredding your cheese because this will save you the added carbs in pre-shredded cheeses.

Pre-shredded cheeses typically have added starches to prevent "caking & sticking," and these starches contain carbohydrates. So, to keep your keto cheese bread as low carb as possible, I recommend avoiding them.

How to Make Keto Cheese Bread

If you have never made cheese bread before, do not worry. This recipe is easy to make and easy to execute.

Honestly, all it takes is a few basics steps, and you've got yourself a delicious keto cheese bread.

Not to mention, this recipe should only take 35 minutes to complete, including baking time!

With that said, let's get into the nitty-gritty details on how to make this keto cheese bread.

Slices of cheese bread on a blue napkin. The cheese bread is topped with green onions and there is a white cup with marinara sauce in it on the napkin as well.

Step 1: Preparing the Oven and Cheese Bread Dough

Like any other baking recipe, the first step to this keto-friendly cheese bread recipe is preparing the oven and making the dough.

So, begin by preheating the oven to 350° Fahrenheit (177° C).

As the oven is heating up, you should start making the dough.

Place a medium-sized bowl on a flat, sturdy surface, and crack two large eggs into the bowl.

Once the eggs are cracked, use a fork to whisk the eggs until the yolk and whites are combined.

After that, add the freshly shredded mozzarella cheese and the freshly grated parmesan cheese.

A hand holding a slice of cheese bread over a cup of marinara sauce.

    Add The Optional Seasonings

Once the cheeses are added to the bowl, you can add the optional seasonings.

And I like to add these seasonings to my bread:

    • ½ Teaspoon onion powder
    • ½ Teaspoon garlic powder
    • & A pinch of Italian seasoning

Seriously, just by adding those spices, you'll add a ton of flavor to this bread.

A hand dipping a slice of cheese bread into a cup of marinara.

    Combine The Ingredients

Ok, so, now it's time to combine the ingredients.

Grab your spatula and mix the ingredients until they create a crumbly consistency.

Once the crumbly consistency is formed, it is time to get your hands a little dirty.

Grab the dough with your hands and create a big ball of dough - and don't worry if it's not entirely round.

Then, once it's shaped place the ball inside the bowl, and set the bowl aside.

Step 2: Baking the Keto Cheese Bread

Now we'll want to get our tray prepped to bake our keto cheese bread in. And for today's recipe, we'll be using an 11x7" baking tray.

So, the first thing you'll want to do is add a bit of water to your hands and sprinkle the water on the inside of the tray. And adding the water to the tray like this will keep the parchment paper in place when you add.

So, after the parchment paper is in place, you'll want to coat it with nonstick baking spray and add the ball of dough.

Then, press the dough out into the tray using your hands.

It should fill up the bottom of the tray entirely, and it's essential to press the dough out symmetrically so that it cooks evenly.

Now, once the dough is pressed out, it's time to bake it. That said, it will take about 25 minutes to cook all the way through.

So, after about 20 minutes are up, you'll want to check and see what the cheesy keto bread looks like. If it has a golden crust on top, take it out of the oven and set it somewhere to cool off.

A hand holding a piece of cheese bread that has marinara sauce on the end of it. There is a white cup filled marinara sauce below the piece of bread.

    Step 3: Preparing to Serve

Now, when the cheese bread has had a minute - or two - to cool, I like to sprinkle some dried chives over the top of it. But, if you don't like chives, feel free to skip this step.

That said, whether you add the chives or not, you'll want to slice the cheese bread into 8 to 10 pieces using a pizza cutter to create "slices" of it.

Then, once it's sliced, you can dig in!

Oh, and by the way, I highly recommend dipping this stuff into some RAO's keto friendly pizza sauce. It really takes this low carb cheese bread to a whole new level of delicious.

Storing this Cheese Bread For Keto

Ok, so you made this keto cheese bread. You ate it, you loved it, and now you have some leftovers!

Well, I recommend storing your leftovers in the refrigerator in either an air-tight container or sealed in plastic wrap. Your cheese bread will stay good for up to a week stored like this.

Also, you can freeze it too. And if you choose to go this route, the cheese bread will stay good for up to 3 months.

Nutritional Info for Keto Cheese Bread

Ok, so as I already mentioned, every slice of this keto cheese bread has next to 0 carbs, but here's the full nutritional breakdown.

    Each slice has:

    • 125 Calories
    • 7.5g Fat
    • 0.2g Carbs
    • 10g Protein

Yes, there is a teeny-tiny bit of carbs per slice - because eggs & the cheese contain a small number of carbs - but each slice is basically zero. And that's close enough for me to call this zero carb keto cheese bread.

With that said, I hope you enjoy today's recipe.

I truly think it's one of the best keto side dishes you can make, and the whole family is sure to love it.

Oh, and if you give this keto cheese bread recipe a shot, let me know how it turns out for you in the comments below!

    Ingredients

    Scale

    2 Large eggs

2 Cups (224g) of freshly shredded mozzarella cheese

1 ½ Cup (145g) of freshly grated parmesan cheese

    ½ Teaspoon (2g) onion powder

    ½ Teaspoon (2g) garlic powder

& A pinch of Italian seasoning

    Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350° Fahrenheit (175°C.).

Add the eggs to a large bowl, and whisk the yolks and whites together until combined.

Now, add the remaining ingredients to the bowl, & mix until crumbly.

Once the ingredients are crumbly, use your hands to form a ball of dough out of them.

Then, when you've done that, coat the bottom of an 11x7" baking tray with water, and add a sheet of parchment paper to the tray, and then coat it with baking spray.

Now add the ball of dough to the tray, and press it out as evenly as possible.

Bake the bread in the oven for around 25 minutes - or until the top is golden brown.

Let the bread cool down to room temperature, and then cut it into 8-10 pieces.

Store in the fridge for up to a week.

Excellent! I made it this evening. I didn't want to eat more meat. Im getting tired of meat and im only on week 4 so this was a great option. I didn't have mozzarella but I did have Emmental cheese so I used that. I also halved the recipe because I didn't need a large thing. It came out delicious. I paired it with a couple tbs of raos pizza sauce to dip and a small romaine salad with avocado.

I made these when he first dropped the recipe and I was doing a keto diet. I have stopped during Keto for a year and I am back to keto now and came back to this recipe to say it really is delicious. I am an extreme picky eater. All of Joe's food is extremely good and I like to eat it. Love these cheese sticks.
