THE BEST KETO CHICKEN ALFREDO
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear pasta is carbs.
Traditional pasta dishes use noodles made out of flour, causing the meal to be super high in carbs.
This keto chicken alfredo recipe uses zucchini to make the noodles - some call these zoodles - substituting carbs for a serving of vegetables.
Zucchini noodles are perfect for this recipe because they have a mild flavor and absorb the alfredo sauces delicious taste.
I love this keto pasta recipe because it tastes just like what you would order from an authentic Italian restaurant. It is indulgent and rich, making it the ultimate comfort food.
Seriously, this keto chicken alfredo is the perfect savory dish if you are cooking dinner for family and friends or just treating yourself to a tasty meal. Everyone is sure to love it!
INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED
To get you started, here's what you'll need to make your low carb chicken alfredo pasta:
- 10 Oz. Keto Alfredo Sauce
- 2 Medium Zucchinis
- 2 Tbsps Olive Oil
- 2 Chicken Breasts Pounded
- Salt & Pepper
So, these are some simple keto friendly ingredients. And odds are, you probably have most - if not all of these - on hand already.
The chicken in the recipe will add in some protein and make it a complete meal just like it does in this keto chicken pot pie recipe, instant pot chicken stew, and creamy keto chicken thighs recipe. And the zucchinis will be making our noodles for the dish, keeping it low carb.
Now, you'll need keto alfredo sauce as well for this recipe. To find out the ingredients and how to make it, check out my keto alfredo sauce recipe. The whole recipe takes about 5 minutes and yields all the alfredo sauce you'll need to make this keto chicken alfredo.
If you want to shave down the time it takes to make this recipe, you can make the keto alfredo sauce recipe ahead of time and have it ready to go! The alfredo sauce keto style also goes really well with things like these keto chicken nuggets, so it's worth making a few servings of it.
You can store the sauce in the fridge for up to 7 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months!
PICKING THE BEST ZUCHINNIS FOR ZUCCHINI NOODLES
Ok, so a quick note on your zucchini noodles.
To get the best zucchini noodle results – I'm talking slightly tender with perfect spirals – you'll want to choose a good quality zucchini. A bad zucchini will yield soggy and mushy noodles, compromising your meal.
When you buy your zucchini, it should be firm to the touch and have a glossy outer skin. If the zucchini easily gives when pressed, that's usually a sign that the inside will be too soft to make into well-defined noodles.
Of course, you'll want to stay away from any zucchini with wrinkled skin or decay spots as well – those are just bad news.
HOW TO MAKE KETO CHICKEN ALFREDO
Like I mentioned before, it will only take you about 20 minutes to make this classic Italian pasta dish. The seamless cooking process has a shortlist of ingredients that will turn this dish into a staple at your dinner table.
Before we jump into making the recipe, you have a few options for making the zucchini noodles.
MAKING ZUCCHINI NOODLES WITHOUT A SPIRALIZER
Suppose you don't have a spiralizer and don't plan to buy one, no need to worry! You can still make delicious homemade zucchini noodles for this recipe using a few different methods:
One way you can turn your zucchini into noodles is by using a mandolin. A mandolin can help you make thick and flat zucchini noodles, similar to lasagne noodles. Just keep in mind that your zucchini will come out as shorter ribbons compared to the long, curly strands you get from a spiralizer.
Use A Vegetable Peeler To Make The Zoodles
A basic vegetable peeler will also do the job of turning your zucchini into noodles.
If you have a julienne vegetable peeler, you can use it to make thinner strands of zucchini noodles that are a little closer to what you would get using a spiralizer. Once again, it won't have the length that the spiralized kind has, but it will be closer to the noodle shape you're used to.
With that said, this recipe will be delicious no matter what way you choose to make your noodles.
After you make this recipe once and find yourself making it regularly, you should consider buying a spiralizer. It'll save you a ton of time and give you that traditional pasta consistency.
STEP 1: Prepping Your Zucchini Noodles
Now, the first thing you'll want to do when making your keto chicken alfredo is to prep the zucchini noodles.
They'll need to sit for a few minutes to sweat out the excess liquid, and you can use that time to work on the rest of the recipe.
So here are the steps to turning your zucchini into perfect low carb zoodles:
- Using either a spiralizer, mandolin, or vegetable peeler, turn your two zucchinis into noodles.
- Place them in a colander and sprinkle with a generous amount of salt.
- Let them sweat for about 10 minutes. The salt will help draw out the water from the zucchini noodles and make them perfectly seasoned and tender.
- Drain the excess liquid.
Step 2: Cooking the chicken
While giving your zucchini noodles time to sweat, you can get started on the chicken breasts.
Season them with salt and pepper, then heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
Once the pan is heated, cook the chicken breast for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Step 3: Preparing The Alfredo Sauce
Now place the chicken breasts aside and prepare the keto alfredo sauce if you haven't done so already.
Then, set the low carb alfredo sauce aside and keep it covered.
That said, if you have the keto alfredo sauce pre-made, you will want to warm the sauce on the stove over low heat.
Step 4: Putting the entire dish together
Now, in your pan, sauté the zoodles with the remaining olive oil for about a minute or until they're slightly softened.
Then stir in the warm alfredo sauce.
Finally, slice the cooked chicken breasts and place them over the alfredo zoodles.
Top with a bit of freshly ground pepper and serve your delicious keto chicken alfredo.
How easy is that?!
NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION
As I mentioned earlier, pasta dishes typically contain a high amount of carbs. One of the best parts about this recipe is you get to enjoy an authentic pasta meal without worrying about adding unnecessary carbs.
For instance, every cup has only:
- 440 KCAL
- 33.5G FAT
- 5G NET CARBS
- 30G PROTEIN
Just 5g net carbs for a pasta dish. Is this for real? Well, with this recipe it is.
Seriously though, a low carb meal doesn't get much better than this! Atleast I don't think it does.
I hope you'll agree that this keto chicken alfredo recipe is one of the best keto dinner recipes you can make.

My hubby made this for dinner. He added some spinach to the zucchini noodles and we used canned Rao Alfredo sauce. We both absolutely loved this dinner. We will make again for sure.
