0 Carb Keto Maple Syrup Recipe | THE BEST Sugar Free Maple Syrup You Can Make

Jul 2, 2021 The Diet Chef

    Jump to Recipe

This keto maple syrup is perfectly sweet, with a rich maple finish, and a legit syrupy texture. In fact, it has such a true flavor that you won't believe it is a sugar free maple syrup with 0 CARBS! And it is so simple to make and tastes incredible on so many recipes. A bottle of maple syrup in front of a plate of pancakes.

    THE BEST KETO MAPLE SYRUP

It's Sunday morning, and you just whipped up a batch of thick and fluffy keto pancakes. And now you need a maple syrup substitute to drizzle on your pancakes while keeping your breakfast low carb.

Enter this keto maple syrup recipe - it's sweet, has a buttery and bold maple flavor, and the consistency is on point.

But instead of being loaded with sugar - or tasting fake like the store-bought kind - it is a sugar-free syrup that has a ridiculous authentic maple syrup flavor.

And this keto syrup has way fewer ingredients than the ones you'll find in the store, and it is way cheaper too!

Oh, and just when you thought this recipe couldn't get any better, it is super simple to make. And it might even be fun to make with the kids!

A bottle of maple syrup sat in front of a plate of pancakes, a blue napkin, and a cup of coffee.

    INGREDIENTS

So, you'll need a few common keto ingredients and a few specific ones for creating maple syrup.

    Here is what you'll need:

    • ¾ cup Brown Swerve
    • ⅓ cup Confectioners Swerve
    • 2 ½ cups water
    • 2 heaping tbsps. maple extract
    • 1 teaspoon butter extract
    • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
    • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon xanthan gum

If you don't have all of these ingredients, make sure you pick them up ASAP because this syrup is a total game-changer.

By the way, you can use a lot of these ingredients to make these 5-minute Keto Cinnamon Rolls so give those a shot next.

    KETO FRIENDLY SWEETENERS TO USE

Ok, so we will be making a sugar-free maple syrup recipe that tastes like it's straight from a maple tree.

And to do this, we will be using a combination of Brown Swerve and Confectioners Swerve. Both are 0 calorie and 0 sugar sweeteners that will add the perfect sweetness to this syrup.

Now, you can substitute the Confectioners Swerve with Lakanto's Powdered Monkfruit Sweetener, and you'll get the same amazing result.

However, I do not recommend substituting the Brown Swerve with another sweetener - I've found that it is by far the best brown sugar replacement and works really well in this recipe.

The side of a bottle of maple syrup.

HOW TO MAKE KETO PANCAKE SYRUP

In just a few easy steps, you'll have ridiculously good maple syrup that will change your keto breakfast forever.

And this recipe will make a couple of bottles worth of syrup, so make sure you have some empty ones on hand!

Now, I know you're ready for some maple goodness, so let's get to it.

A bottle of maple syrup next to a plate of pancakes.

    STEP 1: BOILING YOUR SYRUP

The first thing you will do is take out a medium-sized pot and add your brown swerve, confectioners swerve, and water to it.

Then mix those ingredients with a spoon and put your pot on a burner over medium heat.

Next, bring this mixture to a boil, and you'll want to stir your ingredients occasionally as you're waiting for it to boil. And then once it boils, turn the heat down to low.

Maple syrup just about to be poured on a stack of pancakes.

STEP 2: COMBINING THE OTHER INGREDIENTS

Ok, so your pot should be over low heat. Now you can add your maple syrup extract, butter extract, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt to the pot.

Then, take out a whisk, and whiskify the ingredients you just added together until they combine with the water-sweetener mixture.

Maple syrup being poured on pancakes.

When they do, add your xanthan gum to the pot to give your mixture its syrupy consistency. Then, after you've done that, you can turn your burner up a couple of notches and continuously whisk everything together for a couple of minutes.

Next, take your pot off the heat and set it aside for around 30 minutes so it can cool down to room temperature.

Maple syrup being poured over a stack of pancakes.

STEP 3: FINISHING YOUR MAPLE SYRUP

Once your maple syrup has cooled to room temperature, use a funnel to pour it into empty maple syrup jars.

And again, this recipe will make multiple jars of keto maple syrup, so you're going to need a few jars.

Then after the syrup is in the jars, you can put it in the fridge to cool down even more.

While the syrup is cooling in the fridge, you might get some crystallization from the Brown Swerve.

But not to worry, it's super easy to get rid of that - all you have to do is add some of the maple syrup to a bowl before you use it and then warm it up in the microwave for about a minute.

Then after you do that, pour this syrup over one of the recipes below and dig in!

A hand holding a bottle of maple syrup and pouring it over a stack of pancakes.

WHAT TO PUT THIS MAPLE SYRUP ON

Ok, so you have crazy delicious maple syrup, now you need some recipes that are just as delicious to put it on.

Well, you've come to the right place because I've got a ton of keto recipes that are the perfect match for this syrup.

    Try putting it on these:

    • Keto Banana Pancakes
    • Keto 1-Minute Pancakes
    • Keto Coconut Flour Cream Cheese Pancakes
    • Keto Almond Flour Pancakes
    • Keto French Toast
    • Keto Chaffles

A stack of pancakes with maple syrup dripping down the side of them.

HOW TO STORE KETO MAPLE SYRUP

As you know by now, this recipe will make a few jars of maple syrup. And what's great about it is it stores super well, so you'll be all set for the next few months!

This maple syrup will last in the refrigerator for 6 months in bottles or sealable glass jars.

And as I mentioned earlier, your syrup may build up some crystallization when it is chilling.

So all you have to do to get rid of it is add the maple syrup you're going to use to a bowl and warm it in the microwave for about a minute.

A stack of pancakes covered in maple syrup. There's a blue napkin a cup of coffee and a bottle of syrup behind the pancakes.

Now that is some amazing keto maple syrup!

This stuff is easily the best sugar-free maple syrup you'll find. It is sweet and syrupy with a true maple flavor and spot on texture.

And after you taste it, you'll have a hard time believing it isn't "real" maple syrup!

My family won't even use any other sugar free syrup, and I'm always making this right when we run out.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this keto maple syrup recipe as much as I do.

Make sure to leave a comment below if you make it, and let me know what you think if you make it!

Would I be able to sub maple extract for “Better Stevia Maple 0-Calorie Liquid Sweetner” or sub a tad bit of sugar free maple syrup? I don’t have maple extract. I really wanna make this keto maple syrup recipe.

I'm definitely a Simon Cowell when it comes to taste and this is by far the best Keto Syrup I've tried!

This recipe randomly popped up on my Google Home Saturday and I knew I had to try it. This beats Maple Grove Farms, Log Cabin, Lakanto (by a LONG shot), Walmart brand, and Choc Zero's overpriced Maple (which WAS [past tense] the best, in my opinion, out of all of the previously named ones)!! 10/10 would recommend! Thank you so much for sharing this awesome recipe!

Tip: If you don't eat syrup a lot, I'd recommend making 1/2 of the recipe, cause it's still a lot! Also, after it's freshly made, it may have an after-taste that resembles Lakanto (but not as bad). Don't let that scare you. After a night in the fridge, it will be gone and you'll be left with delicious goodness :)

I made this and have been using it with a protein-sparing French toast and it is very tasty. However, seems like the total carbs are way off. I understand that it's zero NET carbs, but the total carbs are much higher. So, take a look at this and tell me what I'm missing:

      1/3 cup of confectioner's Swerve (16 tsp) has 48 g TOTAL carbs
3/4 cup of brown Swerve (36 tsp) has 144g TOTAL carbs
for a total of 192g TOTAL carbs

divided by 25 servings=7.68g TOTAL carbs per 2 Tbsp serving

This is one of the first times I'm using one of your recipes. Do you only share net carbs in your recipes? I mean, what you listed seems like it is not the "full nutritional breakdown" as you stated at the bottom of the recipe.

It is very delicious, though, but I will likely have to find a different syrup as this one is too high-carb for what I'm currently doing (switching to total carbs as net carbs no longer works for weight loss).

Thanks for any insight you are able to give!

Hey Julie, I think what you're missing is the fact that the package also says 0 calories. The FDA makes companies label all sugar alcohols as carbs even though some of them have no calories...and should be tracked as actually have NO CARBS. This is the case with Swerve.
