    The Best Low Calorie Pancakes

Typically pancakes don't make the cut when you're looking for a low calorie breakfast. They're usually loaded with calories, carbs, and sugar.

But, with this healthy pancake recipe, you can enjoy some soft and fluffy pancakes without all of the calories and sugar!

Oh, and without all the gluten too - these are gluten free pancakes as well.

Also, to make them even better, I suggest loading them up with this 0 calorie maple syrup. The syrup really takes these hotcakes over the top, and you'd never guess it was sugar/calorie free.

By the way, another reason to love this low calorie pancake recipe is that it's super easy to make. 5-10 minutes is all it takes to make 'em. Not too shabby eh?

Who knew making healthy pancakes from scratch could be this easy?!

A stack of pancakes that have a piece cut out from the front of them on top of a white plate that has some syrup on it.

    Ingredients

Ok, so these pancakes are made with just 5 easy to find ingredients

With that said, here's what you'll need:

    • 1 Egg
    • 15 g (1 tbsp) granulated erythritol (or the sugar substitute of your choice)
    • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
    • 30 g (2 tbsp) Greek yogurt
    • 25 g (3 tbsp) Oat Flour

Just so you know, you can use normal flour in place of the oat flour. But the reason I like to use oat flour is that it's more satiating - and higher in fiber - than normal flour, so it will keep you fuller for longer!

Then, on top of that, the greek yogurt adds a little extra protein to these hotcakes, and also helps gives them their fluffy texture.

Finally, these pancakes get their sweetness from a touch of Granulated Swerve - which is a 0 calorie/carb. sweetener.

A bowl of oat flour, a bowl with an egg in it, a small bowl with vanilla extract in it, small bowl with erythritol in it, and a small bowl Greek yogurt all on a gray counter.

How to Make Low Calorie Pancakes

Before we get cooking, this recipe will make 4 small pancakes - some people call these half dollar pancakes.

So, if you're planning to make them for your family, you should double or triple the recipe.

Electric mixers in a bowl that has beaten egg yolk, Greek yogurt, and vanilla extract.

Step 1: Making The Pancake Batter

To start, combine the egg, erythritol, and vanilla extract in a bowl and whisk until they're creamy.

Next, add in the oat flour and greek yogurt and mix everything together until they combine and a smooth pancake batter forms.

Three circles of pancake batter on a griddle and a cookie scooper pouring pancake batter onto the griddle.

    Step 2: Cooking the Pancakes

Now take out a non-stick pan or griddle and grease it with a little cooking spray. Also, be sure to turn the heat down to low-medium, you don't want it to be too hot or the pancakes will cook super fast. Patience is key here.

Now, once the surface is heated, pour some batter onto it. Cook the pancakes for a few minutes or until the bubbles on the surface just start to pop.

Then, flip, and cook for another minute on the other side - or until the pancakes are nice and golden.

After you cook about four pancakes, serve with some sugar free maple syrup or whatever toppings you want and enjoy!

A griddle that has two circles of pancake batter in front of that is one pancake and another pancake been flipped

    How To Store Pancakes

Let's face it, it's going to be pretty much impossible not to gobble up all of these pancakes as soon as they make their way out of the pan! And you totally can since all 4 pancakes have just 156 calories total!

But, if you have any leftovers, you can either wrap them in tin foil or transfer them to an airtight container and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days.

And if you want to make a big batch to have and hand, you can freeze the pancakes for up to 3 months.

FAQS ABOUT THIS LOW CALORIE PANCAKE RECIPE

How many calories are in one pancake?

Typically one pancake has around 150-200 calories. That is because they are usually made with flour, sugar, butter, and either milk or buttermilk. But since this low calorie pancake recipe is made with oat flour, erythritol, and greek yogurt instead, each pancake has only 39 calories!

What is the healthiest type of pancake?

Since these pancakes are so low in calories and made with wholesome ingredients, they're about as healthy as it gets. But another healthy pancake that you can try out is these almond flour pancakes. Each one only has 2 net carbs and 9g of protein, so they're another good option!

    Wrapping It All Up

Well, that is how to make low calorie pancakes!

I honestly have been making these like crazy lately. I love that I can eat the entire batch of pancakes for just over 150 calories! And I can't tell the difference between these and "regular" high calorie ones.

Anyway, I hope you like this little easy healthy pancake recipe as much as I do!

Oh, and if you want to try some more low calorie recipes, these chocolate chip cookies, this skinny vanilla latte, these brownies, and this pizza are some of my favorites.

Awesome recipe! I was able to make 3 small pancakes, with my fitness pal and my ingredients, each pancake was 65 calories. Added some turkey bacon and ice coffee to make a perfect breakfast.
