The Best Instant Pot Green Beans

If you've been looking for the easiest and quickest way to cook green beans perfectly, you've come to the right place. And that's mainly because the Instant Pot takes all the guesswork out of making them, and you end up with consistently perfect results every time.

Seriously, making greens beans Instant Pot style - atleast that's what we call it in our house - is the best cooking style to use to make them. They just turn out perfectly crisp and crunchy every single time when you make 'em that way.

So, whether you are whipping up a quick lunch, family dinner, or hosting guests, these pressure cooker green beans will come in clutch. Plus, making these green beans is so simple and easy too. In fact, just a couple minutes of prep work is all you'll have to dedicate to make 'em and then they cook up in less than 5 minutes.

Plus, you can either make plain green beans with just 2 ingredients or add my - well, my mom's - super flavorful dressing to them! The dressing is always a hit at our house, and I'm sure it will be at yours too.

    Ingredients

So, the central part of these Instant Pot green beans only requires 2 ingredients. And if you have the green beans, I can almost guarantee you have the other ingredients.

     Here's what you'll need:

    • 1 ½ lb. Green Beans, trimmed and halved
    • 1 cup Chicken or Vegetable Broth (or water)

    Mom's famous optional dressing:

    • ¼ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
    • ¼ cup Olive Oil
    • 6 tbsp. Sugar (or granular Swerve to keep it low carb)
    • 2 tbsp. Yellow Mustard
    • Salt and Pepper

    And to top everything off:

    • ½ cup Dried Cranberries (optional)
    • 1 cup Red Onion, finely sliced (optional)

    Simple stuff, right?!

HOW TO MAKE INSTANT POT GREEN BEANS

So, the instructions for these Instant Pot green beans are pretty straightforward.

Basically, you just get out the ingredients and start cooking 'em! The whole process is easy-peasy and practically fool-proof.

I mean, you literally have to follow just 2 steps to make 'em, how hard could it be?!

So, if you're ready to cook this delicious and nutritious vegetable the best way, dive into the recipe!

    Step 1: Cooking Green Beans

You'll want to start by preparing the green beans. So, to do that, you'll want to trim the stem ends of the green beans off. You can either snap them off one by one, or you can use a cutting board and slice off the ends of multiple beans at a time.

Anyway, once the ends are all trimmed, you can wash the beans under running water and then cut them in half. Then, after you've done that you can put the halved green beans in the Instant Pot along with the broth - or water - of your choice. Finally, once you've got them added to the pot you can cook the beans at low pressure for 3 minutes.

Step 2: MAKING THE DRESSING & SERVING

Once the green beans cook to perfection, you'll want to drain them and either serve warm, or set them aside and make the dressing.

So, to make the dressing, just mix the vinegar, sugar, yellow mustard, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a small bowl until the ingredients combine.

Then, after you've got the dressing prepped you can drizzle it over the cooked green beans and garnish 'em with some dried cranberries and finely sliced onions. The onions and the cranberries will add a pop of color to the dish and add texture with layers of flavor. My wife love, love, loves the addition of them to the green beans, but just like the dressing, it's completely optional to add them.

Finally, serve the green beans with your meal of choice and enjoy!

What to eat With these Instant Pot Green Beans

There are many reasons to love these Instant Pot green beans.

But what I love most about this recipe is it is extremely versatile and can be served with nearly any main dish!

Here are a few of my favorite recipes to pair with these green beans:

    • Chicken Crust Pizza
    • Chicken Marsala
    • Pasta Noodles
    • Stuffed Peppers
    • Chicken Pot Pie
    • Meatloaf

How to Store Instant Pot Green Beans

Ok, so if you end up cooking more green beans than you could eat for your meal, you can save them for lunch or dinner throughout the week!

All you have to do is to put the leftover green beans in an airtight container and store it in the fridge. Stored like this, the green beans will last for up to 5 days.

So, don't worry, if you end up with leftovers you have plenty of time to enjoy them.

    Reheating Green Beans

The good news is that whenever you want to eat these leftover Instant Pot green beans, you can reheat them right before serving 'em, and they're good to go.

Now, the quickest way to reheat leftover green beans is using the microwave. Just microwave the beans for around a minute - or until they reach your desired temperature.

Another easy way to reheat green beans is using the oven. Toss the leftover green beans on a baking sheet and bake for around 5-10 minutes at 400°F (205°C) degrees.

You can also reheat these Instant Pot green beans on the stovetop. Just heat some olive oil in a skillet pan and heat the green beans for a few minutes until they reach your desired temperature.

With all of that said, no matter what reheating method you use for the pressure cooker green beans, the key is using the minimum cooking time to avoid overcooking the beans and messing with their crispy-tender texture.

    Wrapping It All Up

So, there you have it, that's how to make green beans in the Instant Pot.

Honestly, I've got a feeling that once you try cooking green beans in a pressure cooker, you'll never want to cook them another way again.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I/we do.
