The Best Sauteed Pork Chops
If you're tired of dry, overcooked, and bland pork chops, this succulent and flavorful sauteed pork chops recipe is just what you need!
The pork chops have a mouthwatering golden brown sear on the outside of them, and the meat on the inside stays perfectly moist and tender. Plus, these pork chops also come along with a deliciously savory, buttery pan sauce that'll have you and your family licking your plates clean!
Not to mention, they're effortless to make. I mean, these sauteed pork chops are basically ready in no time. All you have to do is season the chops, sautee 'em, and then make the sauce to top 'em with. That last step is optional, by the way.
By the way, every great main dish needs some equally yummy sides to go with it. A few of my favorites to pair with these skillet pork chops are these sauteed brussel sprouts, these instant pot green beans, this roasted kohlrabi, and this seared bok choy recipe.
Ingredients
One of the things I love most about this sauteed pork chops recipe is that it's made almost entirely with kitchen staples. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you have most - if not all - of them at your house already.
Anyway, here are all of the ingredients you'll need to make this recipe:
- 4 pork chops, boneless
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- ¼ cup chicken stock or chicken stock
- 2 tablespoon butter or lard, optional
Pretty simple stuff, right?
Now, of course, I opted to make my sauteed pork chops with boneless pork chops but, with that said, you can also make this recipe using bone in pork chops. You'll just have to make some adjustments to the cooking time if you use the bone in pork chops.
Oh, and if you're thinking about sauteeing some thinner bone in chops, be sure to check out my recipe for pan seared thin pork chops. It only takes 10 minutes and uses a lot of the ingredients listed here!

How to Saute Pork Chops
Now, if you've never sauteed pork chops before, don't be intimidated! Cooking juicy and flavorful sauteed pork chops is easier and quicker than it seems.
All in all, this pan fried pork chops recipe only takes about 5 minutes of prep work and 10 minutes of active cooking time - gravy/sauce included.
Anyway, let's not waste any more time and dive into this sauteed pork chops recipe!
Step 1: Seasoning The Pork Chops
First, you'll season the pork chops to give them their one-of-a-kind flavor. So, to do that, you'll want to mix the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, salt, and black pepper together in a small bowl to make your pork chop spice rub.
Next, you'll want to pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel and then rub them with those spices. Then, you'll want to let the pork chops sit for about 5-10 minutes to give them a quick dry brine.
Step 2: Sauteing The Pork Chops
Once you've given the pork chops time to marinate in the spices, you'll want to take 0ut a large skillet and heat the olive oil in it over medium-high heat.
Then, after you've got the oil hot, you'll want to add one or two seasoned pork chops to the skillet and cook 'em for about 4 minutes per side if using thicker chops or until they reach an internal temperature of 135°F. If you're using thinner pork chops, it'll only take about 2 minutes per side.
Just keep in mind the number of boneless pork chops you can cook at once will depend on the size of your skillet. Giving the meat plenty of space is crucial for getting a nice golden brown sear on the outside, so you won't want to overcrowd the pan.
Anyway, once the stovetop pork chops are fully cooked, you'll want to let the pork chops rest on a plate while you prepare the gravy.
Step 3: Make The Optional Gravy/Sauce
One of the tastiest things you can add on top of these pork chops is a gravy/sauce made from the pan drippings.
So, to make that, you'll want to use the same skillet you used to cook the chops in - keeping it set over medium-high heat - and you'll want to deglaze it by adding the chicken stock to it. Then, after you've added the stock, you can scrape up the browned bits stuck on the pan with a spatula, and add the butter - or lard - to it.
Next, you'll want to simmer the chicken stock and butter - or lard - for a few minutes and give it a stir. Let it cool, and transfer the simple pan sauce to a gravy bowl for serving.
Finally, serve the perfectly cooked pork chops with the prepared creamy sauce and your choice of sides, and enjoy!
How to Store Cooked Pork Chops
This recipe for sauteed pork chops makes 4 servings. Honestly though, you can really make as many servings as you want, just increase the number of pork chops and ingredient amounts to match it.
Then, if you happen to have any leftovers, you can store your cooked pork chops in a shallow airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Alternatively, if you want to store your pan fried pork chops for even longer you can freeze 'em in an airtight container - or a freezer-safe bag - for up to 3 months. If you're using a freezer safe bag just make sure to squeeze any extra air out of it before sealing it.
How To Reheat Cooked Pork Chops
Once you're ready to enjoy these sauteed pork chops again, you'll definitely want to reheat them.
The best way to reheat pork chops is to put them in an oven-safe dish with two tablespoons of water - or broth - cover the dish with a lid, and then heat it in the oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes.
With that said, though, you can also reheat your leftover skillet pork chops in a skillet as well. To do so, just place them in a skillet over medium heat with a splash of water - or broth - and cover the pan. Cook 'em for around 3 minutes, then give 'em a flip and cook the chops for another 3 minutes or until warmed through.
Oh, and lastly, to reheat your tender pork chops even quicker you can use the microwave. It's certainly not my favorite way to heat up pork - I think it just tends to get rubbery in there - but, if you do go this route, I recommend heating it in 30 second intervals. For what it's worth, it usually takes me around 2 minutes to get the pork hot when I use this method.
