THE BEST AIR FRYER BRUSSEL SPROUTS

If you've been looking for the best way to cook brussel sprouts, you found it with this recipe.

The air fryer makes them extra crispy - without burning them - and super tender too. And I use simple ingredients like salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic and parmesan cheese to elevate their flavor even more.

These air fryer brussels sprouts have become one of my family's favorite recipes to have on the side with dinner. It's a great way to get a few servings of this super healthy vegetable in a delicious way.

Plus, making air fried brussel sprouts is super quick and easy. It takes less than 30 minutes to whip these up, and the entire time is passive cooking, so you can make this chicken crust pizza or low carb pasta to go with them!

    INGREDIENTS

So, to make air fryer brussels sprouts, you pretty much just need one ingredient, and then a few optional ones to take them to the next level.

Here's what you'll need to make one of the best brussels sprouts recipes:

    • 1 pound of Brussel sprouts
    • Olive oil
    • 2 Cloves of garlic, minced
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Sprinkle of flakey salt (optional)
    • Sprinkle of shredded parmesan cheese (optional)

You'll be surprised how just a few basic ingredients can totally change the flavor of this vegetable. Kind of like the simple seasonings I use to make this air fryer chicken breast, these air fryer pork chops, and even this air fryer cornish hen!

HOW TO COOK BRUSSEL SPROUTS IN AIR FRYER

A bowl of cut up brussels sprouts soaked in water.

So, if you've ever wondered how to make crispy brussels sprouts, this air fryer brussels sprouts is as easy as it gets. You barely have to do any work, and the air fryer will take care of the rest.

With that said, get out the ingredients, and let's get cooking!

    STEP 1: PREP WORK

A bowl full of seasoned halved brussels sprouts.

First, trim the stems off of all of the brussel sprouts, and cut them in halve.

After that, put them in a bowl of water and let them soak for about 10 minutes. Now, while the brussel sprouts are soaking, you can mince the garlic.

Then, you'll want to drain the brussel sprouts, dry them off with a paper towel, and then put them back in the bowl. Now, add a drizzle of olive oil, the minced garlic, some salt, and a pinch of pepper, and shake the brussel sprouts - or toss them with tongs - until they're evenly coated in the seasoning.

    STEP 2: AIR FRYING

An air fryer basket full of uncooked halved brussels sprouts.

Ok, so at this point it's time to add the brussel sprouts to the air fryer basket, and cook at 380°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. Then, give them a shake and cook for 5 more minutes.

Once the second 5-minute interval is up, give them another shake and cook for an additional 2-4 minutes - that is, of course, if you like your air fryer brussels sprouts on the more "well-done" side as I like them.

Lastly, you'll want to transfer the brussel sprouts to a bowl, and finish them off with some flakey salt and shredded parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

HOW TO STORE & REHEAT BRUSSEL SPROUTS

This recipe will make about 4 servings of air fryer brussels sprouts, so it's perfect for family dinner to serve on the side.

And if you have any leftovers, you can transfer them to an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Then, if you want to warm them back up, put the cooked brussels sprouts in the air fryer and heat for a few minutes at 380°F (190°C) until warm and crispy.

FAQS ABOUT THIS AIR FRYER BRUSSEL SPROUTS RECIPE

Do you need to soak brussel sprouts before cooking?

It is best to soak the brussel sprouts before cooking for this air fryer recipe. It will not only give them a better flavor, but it will also ensure they are completely cleaned as well. The soaking allows the tender  brussels sprouts to turn into ultra crispy brussels sprouts.

Why won't my brussel sprouts get crispy?

If you don't put a little oil on the brussel sprouts, they won't get as crispy. The oil helps crisp up foods while air frying, just like if you were frying them. So a touch of oil goes a long way to make these air fryer brussels sprouts ultra crispy. Also, you'll want to make sure you give the air fryer basket a few shakes while cooking, so the brussel sprouts can evenly crisp up.

So good! The last recipe I tried was a little too crispy/dry for my taste. Soaking them first made all the difference. I used fresh shredded parm and sprinkled it on for the last couple of minutes in the air fryer. Delish! Thanks!
