How To Make Protein French Toast
Again, the process of making this anabolic protein french toast recipe is basically the same process as making the "regular" kind. All you have to do is make the french toast batter, dip, and fry.
It's really that simple!
Seriously, the recipe only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish to make, and it's quick and easy enough to whip up more if you need it.
Anyway, now, let's dive into how to make some protein french toast!
Step 1: Make The Batter
First, you'll want to take out a large bowl and add the eggs, milk, vanilla protein powder, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to it.
Then, you can give everything a good whisk until all of the ingredients are well combined.
Step 2: Fry the Bread
Next, on a stovetop burner, bring a non-stick skillet to medium heat. Then, once the skillet is heated, dip each bread slice into the egg mixture and make sure it's coated on both sides - make sure not to soak the bread. Oh, and if you want, you can cut the bread into slices to make French toast sticks.
Now, you'll want to quickly transfer the coated bread to the skillet and cook it for about 3 minutes per side until nice and golden brown. Also, while it's cooking, you can lift the corner of the bread and peek to see if it's ready to flip. If it's nicely browned and no longer wet, it's ready to be flipped.
After the protein french toast cooks for another 3-ish minutes on the second side, you can remove it from the pan and transfer it to a plate. Then, you'll want to repeat this process with the rest of the slices of bread.
Also, just so you know, if you have a large skillet, you'll be able to cook more than one slice of protein french toast at a time. So, to save time, I recommend using a larger one.
Step 3: Serve The Protein Anabolic French Toast
Once all of your protein french toast has been cooked to perfection it's time to serve it!
So, after all of the slices are plated, I recommend topping each of them off with a drizzle of sugar free maple syrup. Also, some powdered sugar - or powdered 0 calorie sweetener - and sliced strawberries goes really well on the toast too. So, don't sleep on adding those to the final product.
With that said, any way you serve it will be the best French toast you ever try, so enjoy!
How To Store French Toast
So, this recipe for protein french toast will make four slices or two servings. It makes the perfect big breakfast or post workout meal for one, and you can definitely store anything you don't finish.
To store your leftover protein french toast, let it cool to room temperature and then transfer it to an airtight container. Stored this way, it'll keep in the fridge for about 5 days.
By the way, if you want to keep it for longer, you can also freeze the french toast. So, to do that, just transfer it to a freezer-safe sealable container - or bag with all the extra air squeezed out - and it'll last in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Oh, and if you're planning to freeze a big batch of this protein french toast, I highly recommend freezing them individually on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper first. Then, after all of the slices of toast are frozen, you can store 'em together in a big freezer-safe bag. Pre-freezing the french toast will keep them from sticking together in the freezer later.
How To Reheat French Toast
The best way to reheat a few french toast slices is either in an air fryer or skillet.
With that said though, the best way to reheat a big batch of leftover french toast is definitely in the oven.
For the air fryer version, preheat your air fryer to 350°F (180°C) and air fry the french toast for 1-2 minutes on each side.
Alternatively, to reheat the protein french toast on a skillet, you'll just want to add some cooking spray - or melted butter - to it and warm it up to medium-low heat. Then, you can cook the protein french toast for about 1-2 minutes on each side - until both sides are warm and crisp.
Lastly, as I mentioned you can warm up a big batch of this protein french toast in the oven. To do this, just preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and then arrange all of the french toast slices evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 6-8 minutes - or until warmed.
